Little Hnbie*.
bt mittii p. Houston,
There are babies all about us,
Babies frosh and sweot and fair,
Made for seeing, loving, kissing,
Little babies everywhere.
Who on earth can fail to lore them,
God’s fair sunbeams stolen in 1
Bless the little sinless babies !
Innocent, though “born in sin."
We can see them all around us;
In the house and on the street.
Watch their rosy dimpling faces,
Hear their busy hands and feet,
Little babies whose rich garments
Bear Wealth’s impress o'er anJ o’er,
Little babies—poor men’s treasures—
Rollicking upon the floor.
Little black eyed bonnie babies,
Brimming full of fun and glee ;
Little blue eyed sunny babies—
There’s no prettier sight to see !
If my arms were only longer,
So the wee ones wouldn't fall,
How I'd catch them to my bosom—
Little babies, one and all I
Little babies hare their troubles,
So they sometimes sob and wail,
Telling, if we could dirine it,
Many a sad, heart-rending tale,
*Tis a part of human nature
To ask sympathy in woe,
And with little baby sorrows
Grown folks shouldn’t grumble so.
nearen’s choice blessings are the babies,
Blessings not denied the poor,
For the little wondering angels
Steal in at the humblest door.
Earth is not wholly fallen
While these rays from God's ow* smile,
Say in silence something better
Is beyond us all the while.
There are many little babies
• Who hare crossed the river o’er,
Some, whose life-barks were too fragile,
Perished on an earthly shore.
Little snowy, waxen babies,
With their tinny hands at rest—
Little buds too frail to blossom,
Save in mansions of the blest.
The Lazy Man.
A lazy man is always good-natured. lie
never flies into a passion. He might crawl
into one, if that wore possible, but the idea of
flying into one is simply preposterous.
Who ever heard of a lazy man breaking
into a bank where a crowbar had to be used,
or drilling into a safe? Not but that he
might covet his neighbor’s goods contained
therein, but the horror of handling a crowbar
and drills would always deter him from actu*
ally committing burglary.
He never runs away with his neighbor’s
wife, simply on account of the horror he hie
of running. If he is ever known to run, it
is to—run to seed.
He rarely lies about his neighbors, for it
would be too much exertion ; but ho lies about
a barsroom all day.
He is of inestimable service to a billiard
saloon, keeping the chairs warm and watching
the game, for few care to play while there are
no spectators. The fact that he does without
pay, day in and day out, shows the unselfish
ness of bis nature.
The lazy man never gets up a revolution,
insurrections, or other popular excitements,
and doesn’t make a nuisance of himself by
training around the country making incendi
ary speeches to promote public discontent.
In his own neighborhood he is never a busy
body in other people’s affairs, for the very
idea of being a busy-body at anything would
drive him out of his head.
No lazy man ever ran mad. If he went
crazy, it was bocauso he couldn't go anywhere
else without walking. Lazy men don’t dis
turb the quiet or peaceful neighbors by put
ting up factories, furnaces, and other abomi
nations.
A gentleman in Bingham, Utah, who is
■inking a shaft with the expectation of finding
gold in a canon, some time ago nailed a piece
of sheet iron to keop water from dripping on
the men at work. After it had thus served to
keep off the water for some three weeks, he
took it down, and found, to his astonishment,
that it was covered an inch thick with gold,
silver, and copper, with a little iron, and be
came precipitated by being brought in contact
with the sheet iron. The silver was over S3OO
to the ton, and the gold over SBOO.
Anew thieving dodge is practiced by fe
males who enter cars, and, finding a gentle
man sitting alone, ask if the other seat is
occupied. The gentleman at once motions her
to bo seated, when she politely asks him if he
won’t allow her to sit by the window. Os
course this request is also granted, and she be
comes seated. Presently she finds that there
is not air enough in the car, and request, the
gentleman to raise the window. He at once
rises to do so, and as he leans over her she picks
his pocket or removes his watch, which she
passes to a male confederate in the next seat
behind her.
Give without grudging. It is not enough
that you simply gi ve . y ou mußt <j o j t beauti
fully. Your generosity must not be clownish.
It must be fine. It musi be noble. We are
too easy to be entreated.

cles, Ring-worms. Scald Head, Sore Eyes, Erysijielas, Itch,
Bcurfs, Discolorations of the Skin, Hnniors, and Diseases of
the Skin, of whatever name or nature, are literally dug up
and carried out of the system in a short time by the use of
these Bitters. One bottle in such cases will convince the
most incredulous of their curative effects.
Cleanse the Vitiated Blood whenever yon find its impuri
ties bursting through the skin in Pimples, Eruptions, or
Sores: cleanse it when you find it obstructed and sluggish in
the veins; cleanse it when it is foul, and your feelings will
tell you when. Keep the blood pure, and the health of the
eystem will follow.
Fin, Tupc, uud other Worms, lurking in the system
of so many thousands, are effectually destroyed and removed.
Says a distinguished physiologist, there is scarcely an indi
vidual upon the face of the earth whose body is exempt from
the presence of worms. It is not upon the healthy elements
of the body that worms exist, but upon the diseased humors
and slimy deposits that breed these living monsters of dis
ease. No system of Medicine, no vermifuges, no anthel
mintics, will free the system from worms like these Bitters.
