he will never vote again unless a whig
is a candidate. He is known as Un
cle Billy, and in discussing the ques
tion of the world being round, he
says : “ Yer can’t make me blecve no
seech stuff as that; cause ef the worl
was round, I know in reason a par

Wouldn’t it he better if “every town
in Georgia should” do away with the

PRESI DENT LI VINGSTON.
Hon. R. H. Jackson has resigned
the Presidency of the State Alliance,
and mi honored sin of old Newton is
now lilling the responsible position
made vacant by said resignation,—
S|K-aking of the succession of lion.
L. F. Liviuston, of Newton county,
to the Presidency of the Georgia Far
uu-rs Alliance, the Gridin Sun says:
“The mantle of lion. li. 11. Jackson,
former President of the State Alli
ance, has fallen on worthy shoulder*.
Col. L F. Livingston, who was elec
ted Vice-president at the convention
of the Alliance in August last, is one
of the ablest men in our order. To
say that lie is tally competent to fill
the position would hilt feebly express
it. IB- is eminently fitted lor it and
we may look for such progress in Al
liance matters f--r the remainder of
the term us we have never known be
fore.

a.-ar future under tin- guiding hand
•f the faithful and astute Cnrput,
\ hat can he the result hut the most
perfect success and the grandest fu
ture ?
Brethren, r j dee for the iiiture of
tie Farmers Alliance and stand square
up to Bro. Livingston and his stuff.
Remember h one economy, big grain
crops and small cotton crops, pigs,
pumpkins and potatoes. Do without
all you can and buy as little as possi
iile, and here is r, deep health in crys
tal water to the glorious future of the
Fenners’ Alliance.”
O i this subject- the Atlanta Con
stitmioii has this to say ;
Hon. L. F. Livingston of Coving
ton, who is vice president of the alli
mce becomes acting president until
the next regular meeting of the tilli
meo which will take place during the
enming summer.
Col. Livingston will certainly seek
the presidency, and starts in with a
good iovar to help him to reach it.
iHcks-m was elected over him to the
presidency last year, and Livingston
became vice president.
lion. R. W Everett, of Polk, is
prominently mentioned for the posi
tion, and has strong friends who will
urge him to make the race. Hon.
Felix Corpi *, "f Floyd, whose name
is already suggested, is debarred from
toe position as long as he is president
of the exchange, which position he
now holds. It is said that he will
interest himself, however, to see that
the best m m is elected, and as his
strength in the alliance is great, his
support will count for much.
Hon. Primus Jones, of Baker, said
to tiic Constitution that Hon. W. J.
Northen ought to he put at the head
of the alliance. "Why,” said he,
“Northern is the coming man for
governor, and uul- s. the farmers split
up, he can’t lie beaten. Northern is
the strongest man in the alliance, and
he ought to lie put at its head. If
we get in a row over the presidency
we will knock nil the fat in the fire.”
The Constitution then goes on to
say : “The development in the mat
ter wid undoubtedly have some bear
ing on the next gubernatorial cam
paign, Livingston is unquestionably
figuring to succeed Governor Gordon
and in his rounds for the alliance he
has been carefully dropping Living
ston gubernatorial seed. Should he
enter the race, as president of the nl
liance, he would he in a position to
disturb the united support of the alli
ance for any body else. But Living
ston may not become president of the
alliance ; and on the other hand, he
way.”
A blind man can see that the Con
stitution has no very great love for
Col. Livingston, hut the people have.
