Dr. Lafferty’s lecture on “Lack of
Luck with Lee,” did not meet the ex
pectations of the large audience pres
out. It was brief, and carried with it
a sentiment that the Southern people
will never applaud The people ex
pected much of the Doctor and in
consequence were sorely disappointed.
His idea of “luck” may be all right,
hut his criticism on the cowardice of
the Revolutionary Fathers did not
meet with the approval of our people.
His recital of historical events may
be true, his culogv on Lincoln and
Grant maybe patriotic, and still, his
lecture fell flat on the ears of his
hearers. He is a brilliant man and
might have given us a lecture that
would have been appreciated and ap
plauded ; yet, somehow, he did not
do it. Doubtless ‘‘luck” was against
him. Perhaps he had “lamb and on
ions” fur dinner. Who knows? Let
us have another lecture on “Lack of
Luck with Lafferty.”

LET IT BE UNDERSTOOD,
that it is not my intention to tell you
that my Whiskey is a Specific for

smack of Quack and Ilutnbugorv,
which no honorable man would be
guilty of. I will, however, assure you

M.v Mother has had a cough tor twenty
years, pneumonia leaving her with bron
chial trouble. Two years ago, her lungs
becoming involved, she became very much
emaciated and lost all strength, being un
dor regular treatment of a physician and
taking medicine all hours of the day. This
continued until a year ago when I saw your
advertisement of Dr. Aker's English Rem
edy for Consumption and procured a bot
tle. as the tickling in Iter throat was unre
mitting and so irritating ns to make talk
ing impracticable. She was so much re
lieved that another bottle was procured and
we now buy by- the case, site never being
without it. She has no physician and takes
no other medicines. She remarked lately
that if she had not procured it when she
did she would now be dead.
We have recommended it to others who
always receive benefit from it If anyone
desiring further particulars will address me
with a stamp I will answer with pleasure,
as I deem it the Itest cough medicine made.
A trial only is necessary to convince
anyone of its merit. Very Respectfully,

oven dispaired of getting better, I
have, through the use of Dr. Acker’s
English Remedy for Consumption,
been entirely cured, and cannot say
too much in its favor. Judging ftom
its effects it lmd upon me, I consid
