itt, the sweet singer of Covington,
made some of our local vocalists open
their eyes. As Si McKibben express¬
es it, “when he came down on the
line they opened their eyes and looked
to see from whence emanated those
dulcet strains.” Mr. Everitt has won
quite a notoriety, both at home and
abroad, as a singer.”

cratic nominating Convention next

DEATH’S SAD HOLL.
Mrs. Elizabeth Hurst, one of the
oldest and best ladies in this country,
departed this life at the home of her
son-in-law, Elder Wm. Adams, oti

She was 95 years old and had been
true and faithful in ail things. Her
life was one of joy and gladness to
those around her. She always made
home happy, was a gentle Chri stian
lady, and leaves hosts of friends and

It is rumored that considerable ex¬
citement was manifested in the eastern
part of the county last week on ac¬
count of an assault which was made
on a colored female school teacher.
In all probability the affair has been
greatly exagerated, as the people in
that section would not permit any
lawlessness, of so serious a nature, to
go unwhipped of justice.
