Brunswick is earning a reputa¬
tion as a market for railroad ties.
A representative of a New York
railroad has purchased more than
fifty thousand heart pine trees
within the past month. A few of
these have been bought at Fernan
dina, but the bulk of them have
been gotten at Brunswick.
Thomasville Times-Enterprise :
G. \Y. Swift, of near Metcalfe, has
just finished planting fifty acres in
watermelons, Mr. Swift is one of
the most successful farmers in
Thomas county, and makes a spec¬
ialty of watermelon raising. Last
year he raised eight car loads on
fifteen acres, and this year he is
more than trebling the ground put
in last year. In his last year’s
crop there were many melons of
more than seventy pounds weight,
and one was as high as ninety-six
pounds. Mr. Swift thinks that
with a little more care he can make
his choice melon weigh 125 pounds.
If he does he will come near taking
a prize. Unless the signs of the
times change, the melon and fruit
crops this season will be unusually
large. There are very few’ counties
in Georgia that can boast of a 125
pound watermelon, and almost as
lew that boast of single patches of
as many af fifty acres. Unless or¬
dinary condition these fifty acres
will produce from 25 to 35 car loads
of melons, and each car will bring
from $55 to $75. From this calcu¬
lation, then, Mr. Swift can count
on realizing something like $2,000
from his msbu gr n p alvue.

Bonds For Good Roads In Hall.
In all probability the county
commissioners of Hall county will
call an election for au issue of
$100,000 in bonds to build perma¬

meeting of the board the matter
was discussed by the commission¬
ers, but no action w*as taken, the
matter going over until the uext
meeting, thirty days from now.

A Story From Senator Eacon
< i After the war,” s.iid Senat or
Bacon of Georgia, “there was a
great shortage of judges in the
south. In Georgia man v men
were put on the bench who had no
training in the law. At ClI'GlIlt
court one of these judges presided
and the two lawyers who were try¬
ing to a case before him decided
to have some fun with him. After
the evidence had been taken one
of the lawyers arose and su’d:
. < 1 Your honor, both sides tt re
willing to let the ca-e to to tiie
jury without argume nt and on the
statement of the law and th** facts
by yourself.’
“ ‘Gentlemen’ lie said, ‘you
have heard the evid ■ new and what
these lawyers have said. If you
believe what tlm lawyer f u* the
defendant says you must decide
for him. If you believe what the
lawyer for the plaintiff has to say
you must decide for him . But it
you are like me and don’t believe
what either one of them has said,
I am hanged if I know what you
should do. y y

Get Children .
Started Right I
Measles, scarlet fever, mumps
and whooping cough are univer- j
sally prevalent. disease # itself
With all these, the
. IS often trivial, but the after effects
are very serious.
Close observers say that one
half the people suffer from eye :
trouble (result of measles), or
bronchial, ear, or kidney trouble
(result of other diseases of child
hood). I
Now a child in robust health
will throw off these diseases. A
weak ailing child w dll probably
suffer all its life.
We have just the medicine , for
puny, ailing children. It is \ inol.
It is pleasm, to take, it is free
from dangerous drugs, it is nour
ishing and gently tonic, it helps the
food to digest and gives strength.
It has been used in this town
with great success when children
were slow in getting over whoop¬
ing cough and measles.
It seems to give them a start,
and they become bright and
healthy. Used with Vinlax, the I
bowel regulator, it is safe and sure,
both for ailing children and bur¬
dened mothers. Take home a
bottle on our guarantee of money
back if it’s not good. Don’t let
your little ones remain weak and
ailing.

Things We
Like Best
Often Disagree With Us
Because we overeat of them. Indi¬
gestion follows. But there’s a way to
escape such consequences. A dose of a
good digestant like Kodol will relive you
at once. Your stomach is simply too
weak to digest what you eat. That’s all
indigestion is. Kodol digests the food
without the stomach’s aid. Thus the
stomach rests while the body is strength¬
ened by wholesome food. Dieting is un¬
necessary. Kodol digests any kind of
good food. Strengthens and invigorates.
