Kate ltnghed with Willie all da; long,
And Kate sang merrily;
He said she sang like any bird,
And then she laughed to me.
Hi.
For Kate he reaped the popples red
That nodded in the corn;
For me he broke a pale sweet rose.
And pulled away the thorn.
He said the flowers were like her cheek;
My heart was sore all day;
And when he held the rose to me,
I turned my face away.
The blue shades fell; and by the stile
At dusk we sat to rest;
Through tears I watched the angels' wings
That flickered in the west.

Spiritualistic Profanity.
The spiritualists who, on Sundays, congregate at
Ebbit Hall, in Thirty-third street, near Broadway,
New York, were present in full phalanx last Sunday
evening to listen to the profanities of a polysylable
female named Emma J. Bulllne, who, with most
sacrilegious effrontery, entered into a description of
the experience of the late Gen. Winfield Scott in the
spirit life. Commencing her remarks with some
verses entitled “Breathe O’er His Ashes the Incense of
Love." she said that these wera offered as a tribute to
the chieftain by another spirit.
The transition from earth to spirit-life was the sub
ject of the evening's discourse. The beautiful re
ward that awaited Gen. ScoU in the sphere of celestial
light she would describe. Twelve hours before his
death an angel gathered about him, to complete the
circle which was to wsicome his spirit to the eternal
world. Five of the circle were relatives of the noble
chieftain. Washington and Lincoln were also present.
Jnst before he passed away he sank into entire and ut
ter unconsciousness, but this lasted for only three
minutes, at the expiration of which he was perfectly
conscious of the general events transpiring around
him. For six hours after his transition he was in a
state of semi-consciousness. These were consumed
by the attendant spirits in nourishing and developing
the new spiritual body. On looking down upon the
inanimate tenement he had so recently inhabited he
said: “it is past! It is weU|. God be Dralsed. lean

Will come to me." When he awuke to spirftai iifo, he
wa«4 clothed in th© happy, electrical emanations ol the
spiritual body. The moral position occupied by spirits
are shown by the color of their clothing The
chieftain’s clothing was a pearly hne or white
or a greyish, all vary shade. A scarf hung
pendant from his left shoulder, being held there
by three silvery stare aa the symbol ot his rank A
swrord of a golden hue hung by his right side. It had
a double-edged blade, the handle being studded with
diamonds, rallies, emeralds and topazes. Upon his
