poison was the cause, but have not ascertained
what the nature of it was. .

—An aged traveller went into the bar
room of the St Charles hotel, Harrisburg, a
few daya since, carrying a portmanteau. He
sat down and was undisturbed for ’ several

City recommended to a bald-headed ac

—A Paris correspondent says that the

after midnight, the details of the transfer of

—Two travellers, says the Nashville Ban
ner, said to be from Alabama, were shot in
Smith county,»a few days ago, while riding
along the road from Carthage to Chesnut
Mound. One of them was shot i* the back
of the head by a man whom he had’plirinitted
to mount the saddle behind him, and the
other was shot bym companion of the scoun
