THE BEST MACHINE ;. U‘
FOK PACKING COTTON
. IN THE WORLD ! ;
1. ITS SIMPLICITY.—ft .|e a now and improved
application of the Screw Power; just as.simple in its .
construction as the old fashioned wooden screw, as
easily managed, and no more liable to get out of or
der. No ropes or pniliee aa. used iu the cotton
presses. > .. ... ...
2. ITS ECONOMY .—It has beqn; demonstrated by
actual experiment to bq cheaper than the wooden
screw. The tipibers used in its construction are
macs smaller and fewer toga those employed in the
okl screw; the levers being only 16 feet long, and tho
heightof the whole frame above the bed beiug only
10 reet. All these timbers ban be procured on the
plantation, no matter bow exhausted tbe forest. Any
ordinal-; wood workman can build tbe frame, aud
half a dozen bands will put it op in a few hours.
3. ITS DURABILITY.—The Screw and Nut are of
iron, and will last fur years without any appreciable
wear. The whole machine occupies so little space,
that it can be completely covered at very small cost.
4. ITS POWER—With a lever only sixteen feet
Tong, one mule is sufficient for packing the heaviest -
bales. Planters wlm have used it say that, with two
mules, cotton may be compressed on this machine
for shipment.
This Screw was invented jnst before tbe opening of
the war, and has subsequently never been very ge«-
erallv.introduced. Those who have need itauilseen
it csej, unanimously concur in the opinion that it is
UNRIVALLED AS A COTTON SCREW.
