labor, honest manly labor.
From the morning to tbe night.
Better makes the man and neighbor.
Better keeps the conscience right!
Laboring men are independent.
And the bnlworka of tbe State;
Though the calling, not transcendent,
8till may lead to station great
Labor late and labor early,
Hakes the veins more healthful Hoar,
Drives away despondence oarly.
Gives tbe cheeks a healthy glow.
Hoscles, sinews it will strengthen.
Cheerful make the gloomy breast,
And the thread of life will lengthen—
Yield bright visions in yoor rest
It la not a life of leisure,
That most happiness can bring ;
For bat Utile real pleasure
Bleeaes Idler or a king.
Health, contentment i« found ever
With tbe constant toiling man,
And bla words sre cheerful clever.
And all bappy in bis span.
Labor la a noble calling.
Placed on man by God's decree.
And it is a barrier (piling
From each home want misery.
Labor, honest manly labor.
From the early dawn to night, I
Hakes the better man and neighbor—
Keeps hia spirits buoyant, bright
Let us cheerful toil on, brothers,
Of a section trodden down ;
HIn ding not the taunts of others
Who with idling their lives crown.
By the ceaseless toil sod labor
Of her sons the South will rise.
And esn soon unsbesth the .sabre—
