SAVANNAH, FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 1866.
The Two Amtumu.
The tall graaa oaves o’er lowly graves,
The golden ranaklns floods the meadowi.
And In the breeze, the willow trees,
That guard the tomb of Eloiae,
Wave to and fro, with flickering shadows.
And here I sit, while bright birds flit
Among the gravestones whitely gleaming.
And muse away the Summer day
Beneath the vines’ and willows' sway,—
On that bir maiden's memory dreaming.
O’er fields unmown the poppy shone.
The earliest rose had hardly perished,
When she confessed that in her breast
Young Love was throned, a royal guest,—
My image there alone she cherished.
O happy hour, when from her bower,
With clambering grape-vines close entangled,
We saw the moon of leafy June
Rise calmly o’er the wide lagoon.
And climb the sky with bright stars spangled.
Her deep blue eyes, like tropic skies,—
Not less profound, and never colder,—
Were fixed on mine with gaze divine.
And, golden as the German wine,
Her regal ringlets swept her shoulder.
Her little bend, which scarcely spanned
With timid clasp my first three fingers,
Her lip, her cheek, which bees might seek;
Her voice—but, ah! mere words are weak
To paint the Joys where memory lingers 1
The Bummer passed and Autumn's blast
Swept bleakly cold across the heather;
Tbs blight leaves browned, 'neath skies that
frowned,
Then whirled in circles to the ground.
And strewed the paths we trod together.
O heavy grief! with Autumn's leaf
They told me that her days were numbered;
She passed away,—her mortal clay
In death’s pale beauty silent lay.
As calm as If she only slumbered.
I sit among the graves o’erbung
With many a slender-threaded willow;
The churchyard mould seems now less cold
Since, deep beneath, those locks of gold
Haws found a soft and dreamless pillow.
About the tombs the laurel blooms,
1 hear the bees above it humming.
The zephyrs sigb, in floating by;
They bring the scent of ripened rye.
And tell another Autumn's coming.
Far down upon the horizon
A purple haze is softly falling,
The lading rose of Summer goes.
And distant bells, at day’s repose
Unto my inner ear are calling.
Ab, dreamily they say to me
That those, who here are called to sever,
Are elsewhere blessed with peace and rest,
And I, unto this lonely breast
Shall clasp my Eloiae forever.

STOMACH BITTERS
Are tbe only Medicinal Tonic in the World of which
that fluid is the stlmnlating ingredient.
To Dyspeptic Sufferers.
Under the general head of Dyspepsia may be classed
all tbe varieties of indigestion. It* symptoms are
so various, and differ so mnch in different individuals
that It is almost Impossible to classify them. Infect,
some of them are utterly indescribable. It may be
safely asserted, however, that half the diseases of
mankind spring from a disordered condition of the
stomach; and that the other half, whatever their
origin, react upon that sensitive and important or
gan. Among the ordinary indications of Dyspepsia
are flatulence, a bloated and full feeling about the
stomach and abdomen Immediately after eating, a
gnawing sensation or a sense of hollowness at the
pit of tbe stomach between meals, a heavy dull feel
ing in the head, feeble or unsteady appetite, occa
sional nausea, restlessness daring night and a weary,
nnrefreshed feeling on rising in the morning, palpita
flon of the heart, depression of mind, sometimes
amounting to monomania, loss of momory, confu
sion of thought, sour stomach, with raising of food,
and a choking sensation In the throat, dimness of
eye, pain in the diaphragm, feebleness and disincli
nation for exertion, and sometime, emaciation and a
corpse-llke pallor. These are a few of the direct
signs of Dyspepsia, but as it to generally complicated
with specific affections of tbe bowels, tbe User and
the ueives, its victims have many additional torments
which are technically attributed to other canses.
The best advice that can be given to any one who
has the slightest predisposition to Dyspepsia, is to for
tify his or her digestive organs by the daily nse of
Hostetler’s Bitters.
The disease proceeds from a lack of vigor In the
stomach, and this vitalizing preparation will tone
and renovate that organ. If the gastric apparatus is
in good working order, s*d ran perfectly dissolve
and thoroughly aasimijatf the food submitted to its
operation, there will be no Dyspepsia. If it' cannot
do this, it requires reinforcement, and the best of all
reinforcing agents should be forthwith resorted to.
The stomach Is the commissariat of the system. It
upplies the elements of life to tbe whole body, in
It is prepared tbe material of blood, muscle, bone
and fibre, and if it fails to purvey that material in
qnantity, and of a proper kind, the whole body suf
fers, and with it the mental faculties. Tiwrofore pro
tect the commissariat department. Don’t let tbe en
emy obtain possession of it. It Is easier to prevent
disease from getting into an organ Own to expel it
after it becomes a chronic flatus. Coustfok (lie
first indication or uadaslnM* ta the stomiM* Vi a
sign that Dyspepsia is preparing to attack, and baffle
it at once with the GREAT REPBLLANT.
Bat If It Is too late to prevent, remember that it is
not too late to core. It M ballsved gnt there is no
case of Chronic Udlgeetlaa that can wittfetand tba
remedial operation of

This belief is grounded on twelve yeai s’ e* partite
of the efficacy of tha preparation. The first instance

It is a great fallacy to suppose that the naoseons-

HOSTS ITER’* fonTTERIf
Are not unpleasant to tbe taste, and always soothe

scarcely be overrated. For sickness at tbe stomach,
sudden spasms, wind colic, hysterica, nervons head
ache, lassitude, low spirits, and the thousand and
one littlfe ailments that are continually occurring in
every iamily, there la nothing comparable to them. A
