The Coroner, Dr. Myers, was notified of the murder

Moms Muruhy, sworn:—I saw John Casey last

Indian street tu where I boarded and remained there
until this morning.
Dr. ihoN. Smith sworn, says:—I found externally
twu wounds in the left side* and on the face; found
the upper wound on the left side about four inches
below the axilla, passed obliquely downward and for
ward, passing through the interspace of the sixth and
seventh ribs, the weapon chipping off a piece of the
Mxtli r;b; it then passed .through the lower lobe of
the leu lung and directly into the left ventricle of the
jaart; the upper wound, which, in my opinion, caused
the death oi the deceased was about one and a quarter
ihihts in length Bujierficially, and about three and a
hail niches in depth; from the nature of the wounds,
;l . 15 !u y opinion that they were inflicted with a dirk-
skaped instrument. • • • «
Ibejury, a:ter an examination of the evidence, ren-
Itred a verdict that the deceased, Jolpi Casey, cine
t0 his by a wound inflicted with a dirk knile

Mumer, at a time when they-were engaged in a fight,
Patrick Murner being at tho time in a state
