Indiana. —Radicalism appears to be on tho
rampage in Indiana, indulging in rioting
bloodshed and other innooeut amusements
congenial to the latter-day patriots of that
school. We copy an item or two from that
direction, bearing date of tbe 9th:
A terrible riot occurred at Richmond last
night. The grand army of the republic , at
tacked a Conservative meeting. Gen. Mere
dith, Col. Bickel and Judge Gooding we
driven from the stand, narrowly escapi ,
with their lives.
A fracas occurred to-day at Terre Hall
in which Lee Kirtley, a Democrat, was si
dead by a policeman.

Registering In Missouri.
Rpgistering in Missouri is said to be a most low
piece of immsculace uul'sirucss and rascality ud i
Raslieml manipulation. A Hcntlomau ot this city,
tne Menphis Avalanche, reeoutly on a trip to ^

Missouri While in St. Louis, he stepped into the
registration office on Fifth street, above Washington,
in a beer saloon. The presiding officer was a Teuton,
of plethoric proportions, iu the full enjoyment of all
*‘;he pride, pouip, and circumstance” of his position.
He had been a i oker-on but a few minutes, when s
very respec able gentleman, whose advanced age was
evidenced by ins snow-white hair and beard, entered
the room and made application for a certificate of reg
istration. The following highly entertaining and pa
triotic dialogue ensued, showing the beauties of tbe
system m mil-grown proportions:
Register—Veil, mine friend, vat yon vants ?

Brutal Murder in C»lhon«.
W# learn from Captain Fuller, conductor on flit
■Western aud Atlantic Railroad, that a brutal mutdar
was committed at Cailiuun on Wednesday evening.
The unfiA tuuate victim was Mr. Echols a highly re
spectable citizen, aud for eight or ten years the den
of tbe Superior Court of Gordoncouniy. .It sppoam
that threi East Tennesseans—a Captain Duff, an ex-
L deral officer, and two others, names unknown—
reached l aihouu on Wednesday morning, aud tnade
lnqniiies after a certain valuable gray stal ion about
which there had been some disputation. The matter
bad been in litigation, and the case decided against
the East Tenncs*ee claimants. It was evidently tbs
purpose of the three men to secure the horse Cfe «
at mi', and accident seems to have given them a fit
occasion for the accomplishment of their object. A
little boy, son of the owner, had ridden tbe horse to
town for some purpose, and returning *to hie home late
in tne afternoon, was pursued by one of the men, who
dismounted fhe boy aud took possession of the horse* . - * - . *1^
Several citizens, anticipating the purpose ot the j CoDlpUDy IS
man, sought to thwart him, and to that end bad gone f “
around and con fronted him. Ou discovering this,
tbe East Tennessean rapidly retraced his steps to
wards the town. It eeems, however, that -after he
had secured the horse from the boy, he had passed
the house of Mr. Echols, and had been charged by an
old mau ac the gate with having stolen the horse,
