Smeot the cures wrought by the use of Dr. Beru-
iwrdr’s s*p.‘ctacles are truly marvellous. Persons al-
aost blind have, iu some cases, been enabled, after
isng the lenses a shurt lime, to read ordinal^ print
vth the naked eye. Dr, B. is highly recommended
« a skillful optician by the most prominent citizens
aad scientific gentlemen of this city and elsewhere,
ii. will remain but a short time at the' Pulaski Honse.
His office is daily visited t>y many persons from the
c.fvand surrounding country, who find, in hiaakill-.
fal tn atmeut and superior glasses, that Relief for im
paired sight which they had heretofore sought in
vain.
Dr. li.’s glasses, while they differ in many eSsen-
tiala from the old and imperfect style heretofore in
reneral use, possess one characteristic, which is pe-
iliar to them alone, and which is all important to
ilie wearer. It is, that they never require to be changed
with increasing age, and thus relieve the person from
the necessity bf frequently procuring new ones to ac
commodate the vision. This is readily explained upon
scientific principles, and to us. as well as to^mankind
m general, is a new and interesting fact in opthalmic
science.

collecting the tax; which, even with its modifications,
works very much against the planter's iuterest.
