been highly gratified. Its effects have been very dis-
tiuet Ht every stage of the crop, and its proprietors
have been peculiarly fortunate in ihe production
of a Feitilizer that!* equally beneficial on com

tlie beating, burning effect, so disastrous in a drouth.
Mv experience is that this American gn ino is too

the thirty acres has paid me flftv.per cent.'
I applied a ton-of Ihe Phosphate to corn, after
the com was np, before the first plowing, and rhe re
sult tn the growing of the corn was ihe same. In
order, however, to make a thorough test of it with
other Fertilizers, I procured Peruvian Guano and
Phoenix Island Guano, r'appliml the Peruvian Gna
no to one acre of corn, auperiutending It in person,
and the Phosphate to two ceres by the side of the
first, in nearly eqnal quantities, applying auout one-
fourth less of the Peruvian. The result waa that the
Phosphate equaled the Peruvian Guano, the ears of
com being as heavy.
1 have used several kinds of the many commercial
manures ufiered, and consider the Eureka the best
article. 1 wonld so leave have it lor com and cotton
as the Peruvian. 1 also tried Ron watermelons and
vegetables with, the same success. 1 mould recom
