Cotton.—There has been no sales today. The
market at the opeciug waa very dull, without buyers;
later New Y«rk reports being favorable, causing
considerable inquiry, but at eu:h prices that holders
would not accept. Holders are firm, asking various
prices; many will not take leas than 39c for mid
dling. At the same time, others aay they cannot ob
tain 29c for the same grade.
The stock of cotton in the interior and at the sea
ports South, is much smaller than it has ever been,
at this season of the year, in the recollection of our
oldest factors. This holders are well aware of, hence
the flrmners and full faith in higher prices before the
close of ths season.
We cannot give quotations on account cf no sales
and the irregularity of the prices asked.
The receipts to-day amount to ITS bales.
