Newfoundland dog. The Doctor observes
« While in practice at Quebec, a large dog
bleeding profusely from the right leg, at- ‘
tracted the attention of one of my students ;
by stroking the dog on the head and back,
he was coaxed into the surgery, where, oi>
examination, I found an artery and the ten
dons completely divided. I ordered the
poor animal to be firmly secured, by which
means a ligature was applied to the bleeding
vessel, and after shaving the Hair surround
ing the wound, 1 carefully applied adhesive
plasters, and brought its edges together,
(leaving a small aperture for the ligature,)
covered with a linen bandage. After tho
