Grare Robbing.
It, is said that ju some places a
loan is never sale with his life. It
r ulir seems that after death the
body, no matter how well vaulted
and coffined, is safe from the hand
of the grave-robber.
The latest theft of this kind is the
robbery of the vault of the dead
millionaire, A. T. Stewart. Mr.
Stewart died two years ago last April,
fie was buried at St. Mark's church
yard, Now York. On the early
morning of November 7th, his body
.yum stoiau from its last resting place.
It is thought the object is for the
purpose of exacting a large reward
mi the S'ewart estate. The sum

arrest, and conviction of the robbers
and a return of the body. A cathe

intended to contain the remains of

Wo accept the situation, and accord
Dr. Felton the credit of heating one

been pitted against him. As to this,
we have hud our say, and propose to
direct our attention to the future—
let t.he past go. But to proscription,
no matter where it may be tound, we
enter our protest. It were the sheer*

It must now be fiufllciun.tly clear
to .them that, unaided, neglected, us
they are, tlie- colored then of the
South ore unable to support the par
ty to which they still * d'-cla’e their
allegiance. Wade Hampton has
suggested in several ol his recent
speeches that, becoming convinced
ol this, the inch.of this section ol
the country would be the first to de
mand that the'negroes be disfranchi
sed and the cotton . States deprived
of i lit'incu-used represen:ation wliidli
is giyen them because of their color
ed population. Gcnerul Hampton
can hardly be regarded its an author
ity on the prospective policy of th«
Republican party, itnd We give his
signilicupi suggestion only because
it indicates the general anxiety
which exists in theSo.u thorn mind as.
to what course the people of the
North will take when they become
fully alive to the Tact that .oqlored
vote, under the,control of..the While.
League, is siniply a means to Demo
cratic supremacy. That they will
ever seriously consider the propriety
of disfranchising uuy man because
of his color is, of course, absurd.
They gave t he negro a vote, anil they
desire to protect him in it. Ot this
the Southern Democrats may be as
sured. There uru indications that
the Republicans of the. cottqn. States
have gone through tlie last contest
which they will be obliged to go
through unassisted.
INow York Tribune.]
But let the curency question pass
out of the way, and the Greenback
ilenient.return to the parties from
wlienee it came, and what would
happen? The solid South would then
become the overshadowing issue of
canvass. It would he answered by a
solid North, for even Oregon, in that
