We havo had some very cool weather for the past week. On Tues day and Wednesday mornings wo hud very heavy frosts, which bus killed cotton, potato viues aud other veget ables. Richard Pullen, colored, was ar raigned before Esquire Barber, on last Saturday, fur taking a pair of pants from Mr. Alexander Doughorty without his consent, and in his ab sence, contrary to tho peace and good order of society. In default of a $50 bond he was dropped into tho log cabin called a county jail. Charley Anderson, colored, was also tried before Esquire Barber, charged with an assault. Ho gave bond for his appearance at the next term of county court. We are under obligations to J. O. Waddell, Esq. for proceedings of the Semi-Anual Convention of the Geor gia State Agricultural Society, held in Stone Mountain, August 11, 12 and 13, 1874. It contains much valuable information for the farmer, and we shall, after the election, muke some extracts from it. Our young friend, Martin Pitman son of Judge Pitman, our worthy County Treasure, will leave us for the lone star state on next Monday morn ing. He goes to Clarksville, Red Riv er county Texas. We hope our yonng friend will do well in his fur western home. But if he would take our ad vice, he would stay iu old Georgia. We “emigrated” to Texas once and “know how it is our self.” Wo are palnod to announco tho death of Col. Peter Yandovondor, of this count v, which ocenrrod on yester day morning. This announcement will bo received with sorrow by his many friends. Tho death of such n man is uot only a calamity and grief to his immediate friends and family, but will bo folt by tho wholo commu nity. Each district is entitled to the following amounts:—Hampton’s, $259 32; Esom Hill, 228 88; Codar- t >wn, $543 10; Young’s, 187 04; Fish Crook, $214 87; Vanwort, $521 28; Buncomb, $150 40.
