boon pretty thoroilgly canvassed du
ring tho last two weeks. Tho grand
jury of last week sent a unanimous
recommendation to Mr. Hutchings,
our represent at ive, that tho court bo
abolished. Several petitions wore
circulated last week, to lmvo tho court
abolished, and was signed by almost
every ono approached on tho subject.
From the best information wo cun got
nino-tonths of our citizens aro in favor
of tho abolition of tho court entirely,
instead of increasing its jurisdiction
ami powers. An nmondment wan
introduced in tho Souuto by Major
Blanco, and lms passed that house,
enlarging tho powers of tho court.

Scot. 1. Bo it enacted by tho Gen
eral Assembly of tho state of Georgia.
That tho provisions of tho aforesaid
Act i hull apply to the county of Polk,
i xcnpt that tho salary of tho Judge
of said oonnty shall ho an attorney at
law, who has been admitted to tho bar
throeyoui'H prior to appointment.

nary of said county to bo sued for tho
use of any one ngrieved. The special
