They have been somewhat tronhled

Unt if they were a little nervous for

tho Adventist belief have been applied
to a groat deal recently for information

many people said their prayers last

To be plunged faoe downward tbrei

In the full swing of medical practice

mid, although together, the company
looked more like a parly of emigrants
than a company of saints awaiting the
coming of their Lord. Thoy were
greatly annoyed by oouliiiuu! invasion
on tho part of sight-seers. The nyuinlis
who reside along llalsted nnd other
streets in tho vioinity sallied In, stared,
and giggled. The railroad hands made
it a lounging plaoe and were oftou rude
and ofTonsive in their deportment.
They bore all those annoyaueea with
groat meekness, however, and comfort
ed themselves with thoughts of their
approaching triumph.
The aged, white-haired woman who

tlioir gatherings shook her withered
head at some of tho intruders, and said
“ You may soofT now, but to night you

Tlio children displayed a fluency in the

of 7 or 8 made himself oomqiioumiH by
hia pin rot-like iterntiona of opiuiona in
regard to tho approaching uvent.
Notwithstanding the depression of
feeling that was manifest, there were
converts almost up to the lust hour. At
4:1)0 some of the brethren consulted to
gether in regard to throe persons who
wished to ho Inmtiznd. They estimated
that Christ would appear at Jerusalem
in about an hour and a half, and al
though it would not be until midnight
that this portion of the oarth would
roll around ho as to oomo under the
seat of Ilia glory, it was a mooted point

They believed that it would not grow

scriptures. It will bo recollected that
during the thunder-storm, yesterday
evening, there was a peculiar yellow
light diffused through tho air. This
gave them fresh heart and hope. This
same thunder-storm, however, which
lightened their lieartH, Maddened those
of hundreds of othera. There were
many nervous people who viewed with
*' rror these darkening skios and Hush

to diabelief than the day before, and
aetuully began to inuginc that there
was something in Elder Thurman’s cal

to “make their souls." The storm
oaine up jiiHt as tho toilers were return
ing home, and the Heeoml Adveut was
the only subject of conversation on the
ears. That little thunder storm was of
interest, in that it showed how great is
the reserve fund of superstitious fear in
tho human breast. No one can be
found to day who will own that he sat
up till midnight, but there

The Adventists slipped off iu order to
avoid being botheroa uy tho inevitable
mob of mirioiiH. They took the chairs
at Stanley Hall, loaded them on a wagon
driven by one of tho brethren, and sent
them off. Tho reporter, however, could
not afford to lose so peculiar a sight as
that of their solemn awaiting of the

labors were rewarded with success, and
ho tlmilly discovered them at Hyoa Hull,
