Cotton Receipts.—Up to date, C'.j-
durtown has received seventeen hun
dred and twenty-seven bales of cotton.
Of this number, A. Huntington bus

160 ; W. M. Phillips, 100; Pbilpot it

a small town, taking into considera
tion that our cotton buyers haul tho.r
cotton to Rome on wagons, u distance
of twenty miles. Some of this cot' n
was brought from within five miles of
Carrollton, a railroad town, and some
haul a distuuce of foity miles from Al
abama. Our merchants pay Rome
prices for cotton, and sell goods as
cheap as can he bought in Rome, and
the country people are learning this
fuct. We have lived in several towns
and cities, add can -ay that Cedur-
town, to its size, is th: bed market we
are aofuainted with, notwithstanding it
is Dot on a line of railroad.
