Dn. Tm xi it on I used your Lini
ment on a very severe enso of cat bite.
My linger was bitten through to tho
bone on each side, and wan very much
swollen and turned nearly black, and
remained so until I applied your Lin

lief, and my linger got well in a short
time, with lit tie or no pain, by apply
ing the Liniment two or three times
a day. I would recommend every one
to use it, for I think it a great uddi-
ti< n to tho medical science.

Thou, too, ho and his neighbors have

Funning ill Hit* South.
Rev. L. B. Eislt, of Atlanta, iu a rn-
e< nt letter published in tho Cincin
nati Journal and Muisongor, alluding
to tho comparative case with which
the soil in the south can bo cullivatod,
and how light tho summer’s work is
on a southern farm, says :
Hilt still most of tho people spend
the winter almost idly. It would bo
safe to say (hat all tho work done on
tho farms south of here, could bo
crowded into fivo months in tho yonr.
Millions upon millions of acres of
laud that usod to wave with cotton,
corn and other crops, havo not boon
mined with a plough for Leu yeurs.
l'lie young men have pretty generally
left their f.uin homos and go no to the
towns and cities to get employment,
or set tip in some kin I of butiness.
Old and middle aged men aro doing
• lie best they can to luako farming
profitabh ; but bit ing such help as is
at hand -although it ia cheap -and
paying a dollar to a dollar and sevon-
ty-live cents a bushel for northern
corn, and fourteen to eighteen cents
per pound for bacon, with other sup
plies correspondingly dear, takes oil'
the profits. It is not to be wondered
at when we see fences and buildings
going to decay and but little being
done to repair or replace them.
.Monroe county has about one hun
dred northern families, who have
bought, and settled since the war, and
i told by some of tho best nu n of
tho c -uiity, that with few exceptions,
they are happy and contented, and
making money, too, iu a way that as
tonishes thef-o people. The "ruts’' aro
very deep here, and will till people see
the advantage of using better imple
ments in farming.
Not thorn emigration is greatly do-
sired in all this region, and whon
northern people come and settle, they
aro received with all the cordiality
that could reasonably bo desired, and
are treated as neighbors, brothers and
sisters. Northern pimple need fear no
other tre: tiuent when they come with
proper intentions. No kindlier people
live in the world than the southern
ers. Tho best lands iu the State can
bo bought for from $l to $5 an acre in
the southern part of the State, and iu
tho northern part from #5 to $10.
