Wheat is now being hurvosted, and
from all the information wo can gath

not more than a half crop will ho re

Look out, Tkaobrrh 1 —Tho Board

that all teachers bo present, and no

Tho Board passed a resolution re
voking all License issued prior to Juno

Just after diunor yesterday, as wo

dinner, something after this stylo:
"Well, Mr. Editor, I lmvo sent a ■

Immediately after dinner, at the

Wo would rail tho attention of
tlioso seeking a healthy and pleasant
loention as a summer resort, to tho
beautiful little village of Cave Spring.
It is a place which combines more than
ordinary attractions and advantages
to persons seeking a few months quiet
and rest from business and tho boat
of city life.
Tho Cave Spring hotel, occupied by
Mr. J. P. Johnson,has recently under
gone thorough repairs. The rooms
havo boou nontly papered and well
furnished. Tho Proprietor can ac
commodate four or live familios, and
pledges himself to give entire satis
faction to any who may call on him,
if comfortable rooms and good faro
con make them so.
Judge T. J. Davis has also a large,
well furnished residence, overlooking
tho village, large, well ventilated
rooms and all necessary accommoda
tions for comfort and health, which
will be opened for boarders during
tho summer and fall months.
Terms for Board in both Houses,
$20 per month-everything except
washing included. Children under
ten years half price.
Cave Sraisa, May Gth, 1870.
I have a plantation, six miles from
Gedartown, ce nlainidg 800 acres of
fine farming lands, 450 acres cleared,
balance in the woods. The dwelling
house on the place coat three thou
sand dollars, besides there are thirteen
Email houses on tho place, and a good
gin house. I will sell the above land
for fifteen dollars an acre, on ten years
credit. Wm. Peek.

15th, 10th and 17th instant, for tho
purpose of receiving tax returns.
This will bo his last call.
Mr. Wm. M. West left at our ofllco
this week, a hunch of clover measur
ing forly-fivo inches in length. On
inquiry wo found ho was like most of
our farmers who havo any clover, lmd
but a small jmlrh of this valuable—
tins invaluable-crop. Not until our
farmers produce more clover and tho
grasses, oats and other grain crops,
their own mules and horses and cattle
and hogs, will wo liuvo any real, last
ing prosperity in this section. All
admit this, but uct us though they be
lieve it not.
Capt. Wynn says if Charley Gor
don, and others who may bo, ho in
clined, will call on Dr. Bradford, ho
can havo the pleasure of seeing some
of tho "now issue” of silver coin—three
pieces to tho dollar. Wo took a peep
ut tho bright, beautiful pieces, and so
did Judge Brewer—but Judge Sparks
—being a lawyer—turns his attention
more to "trials" than new issue.
Rev. T. 1*. Ciu'ins.—Our readers
will notice tho largo double-column
advertisement in roforenco to a Ca
tarrh euro. Mr. Childs was for many
years a great sufferer from this dis
ease, and at times despaired of his
life. By study and experiment ho
discovered a system of cure of this
disease, which has baffled tho skill of
physicians for many years. Suffice it
ta say, that his method is recommend
ed by every practitioneer to whose uo-
tico it has been brought. Tho euro
is certain, llior /Ugh and scientific.
Mr. Childs is tho pastor of u church
and has been drawn into tho manu
facture of his Catarrh Cure by tho
calls from numbers of friends who de
sired to be freed from this loathsome
disease, as well us by a desire on his
part to alleviate us far as might bo in
his power, the suffering and distress
of the human family. Mr. Childs’
repututiou and character secure him
the confidence of uis patrons, who are
nssur< d that they are not dealing with
a mini that has a patent to sell, but
a simple remedy guaranteed to cure.
Read the advertisement carefully and
J examine the certificates.

It is rumored that there was "some
thing in the air” Friday night that
had quite a strango effect on a Cave
Spring young blood, from tho way ho
waltzed down tho stair stops on his
hoad after thodauoo was over.
Tho olito of tho young people of
C'uvo Spring attouded our pio nio on
last Friday. Our charming little «is-
tor village can well boast of beautiful
young ladies, and us some of our
young men havo got a glimpse of thorn
no doubt they will bo visitihg Cuvo
Spring right ofton for awhile. But,
young men, bow ire! and remember
thut it lms boon only a few weeks
since ouo of our most enterprising
young men was OAptivalod by tho fas
cinating and winning muuuors of a
"girl iu hor toons,” and how sudden
ly tho bright future which ho lmd por
trayed for him8olf was blighted, when
tho cruel damsel informed him thut it
was loupyoar, and that she was only
exercising tho privileges allowed her
sex.
An absent-minded Ohio woman got
tho coffee-pot ready for boiling and
then carefully placed it on a chair uud
sat herself on tho stovo. Although
tho occasion w as dreadfully suggest

managed to deiivo some consol it um

husband to buy hor a now dross,
which, as soon us sho was well enough
she mado up herself, with tho assist
ance of the "Domestic" Fas hi jus and
a now "Domestic” sowing machine.
That Sniuu* Bill.— Mr. Wm. M.
West was iu our ollieo the first of this
week, and gavo us tho following his
tory of tho finding of ono of his "lost
sheep :” Last fall, after shearing time
two of his sheep got strayed oil’, and
ho could hoar nothing of thorn, until
a few days ago, ho was at his liorso
lot, two slicop, both wearing bulb,
oamo running up, ono of Ilium jump
ing over tin burs into the lot, then
into a clover lot, thou out and was
gou^p Tho other, on being callod,
"know his voice” and wont up to hiiu.
On examination, ho found it was iu
mark and his sheep. It had re
cently boon shorn of its ilceco, and
belled. The bull is a now ouo, of me
dium size, now collar and buckle.
Mr. West has tliu bell in his posses
sion, and thu owner, if there bu any,
can get it by calling on him.

Should tho merchants and others in

consideration of it to (heir attention.

If this well could havo some foreign

of resort to all the suffering sons and
daughters of Adam in this country.
Learned discussions are absorbing
tho attention of our merchants and
others, at times, now. No longer than
last week a party met at Dr. Smith’s
drug store and exchanged opinions
us to the cause of earthquakes, the
composition <>f tho inside of the earth,
and then dwelt on tho question, 'who
inhabits the moon ? oris it inhabited?’
Such questions us these are calculated
to develop tho mind and enlarge our
views. We would therefore recom
mend that steps be taken in all tho
towns, during these dull times, to get
up discussions on just such subjects
ns these. Talking about the inhabit
ants of the moon, lms ft tendency to
draw our attention from tho sublu
nary cares of earth, the stringency of
money matters, the prospects of sturv-
ption, and the tendency of rust to ru
in tho wheat crop. Rockrnait has
taken the lead in this matter, and it
might be profitable for other towns of
like pretentions to follow suit, lutel-
