for re-election to tbo I5tli CongrcHH,
Two delegates aro allowed for each
representative, but thoro aro tiHually
five delegatcH elected in a county en
titled to two votes, and in the district
there are 30 votes and over 00 dele
gates. In the proceedings of the
Dalton convention wo And but 20
names, and ono of thorn wo know was
not present, and another, A. F. Wool
ly, of Bartow, in a strong Felton man,
which reduces their number to 27,
and six of thorn from Murray county,
which is entitled to but two voles,
Fonr counties, Polk, Haralson, Paul
ding and Cherokee wore not repro-
OOted, Cherokee in largo muss moot
ing refused to send delegates, only 8
out of several hundred voting in fa
vor of appointing delegates. A little
quad of near u dozen men in Pauld

Unfaltering and faithfully bo worked
for our District uud the entire State.
While there is so much complaint of
prolonged absences from duly in
Wasliinglon, shall wo not accord hon
or to this faithful servant of tlio peo
ple ¥ The Congressional Record
bears testimony to his patriotism and
devotion. We have yet to hear a sen
sible objection to bis course. As far
as human work is faultless, wo must
so designate Iho labors of Dr. Folton.
Appointed upon ono of (lie most im
portant committees of Die Houho, lie
succeeded in effecting a mosL liberal
appropriation for (Joorgiu and our
District. Witli bis colleagues, there
was (lie ntmost harmony and good
feeling. Not thorn Democrats have
expressed themselves most kindly,
and the uluilt house will boar testi
mony lo his fidelity and honesty. Wo
have not space to dwell upon Iuh pub
lished speeches lit present. They aro
strong, eloquent find »fl'eolive. Again
wo repeat, wo aro proud of his record,
and unite with a gratiful people in
saying "Well done, good and faithful
servant.”
We hoist the nnuios of Col. Beall,
of Paulding, as a candidate for sena
tor of this district, and Col. Jones as
a candidate to represent the county
in the legislature. Wo aro not per
sonally acquainted with Air. Beall,
but learn ho is a straightforward, hon
ed and true until, and wo are willing to
trust him. Cel. Jones is bettor known
to most of our citiRcnathan to us, and tliem go free of punishment for their
wliat we could say in his favor would . minus. A citizen of this county pro-
pointed delegates, but presume not
as there are hardly enough Dabney
men in Dm comity lo make a di lega
tion, if we aro correctly informuiid.
Five delegates were iippoiUtcd for
Polk, but ft urn some cause they did
not attend. Col. Alula Johnson, one
of Die Barlow delegates did not itl-
ternl, hut wrote thorn a letter, in
which lie says among other things
concerning Dr. Felton’s piiopositioii,
"ho ought not to be allowed to dic
tate to Dio party.” There woro only
about thirty spectators present du
ring Die sitting of the convention, and
two thirds of them were supporters of
Dr. Felton.
It was indeed a very harmonious
and unanimous convonitoii.
\> lio is W. L. Goodwin I
We see that Win. L. Goodwin, of
Cai leisvillo, is out in a letter declar-
>ii g himself a republican canidate
for congress, at which Col. Dabmy 's
friends in thib section rejoice. Wo
propose to give a brief history of lira
new candidate.
lie came to Bartow county before

a portion of his time Inis been employ

and dragging off innocent men to At

m oney, und puttiug them in prison,
while lie ptiroInthcH and sells crook* d
whisky from those who are guilty of
violating the revenue laws, letting
poses to furnish the names of witm
us to prove tlio abovo facts. This is
not all the black deeds that can be
brought against him. Wo will give a
w extracts from his letter:
"Many republioaua supported l\l
ton at tlio last electi n; but with the
lights now before us -with his actions [
sayings uud votes in Congress, nml J
with tbo plain assertions lie now
makes, it is impossible far any true
opublican to again vote for him,"
lie says I'Vlton and Dabney are
both Democrats, and ".ih there would
be but a very small choice between 1
two evils, wo might either take Dab
ney for bail and Felton for worse.”
It will bo seen that Goodwin thinks
Felton a mom.' Democrat than Dab
ney. That great speech deliver'd by
Stephans, Blount, Cook and Mart- Dr. Felton while ir. congress, exposing 1
rulgo have bleu nominated for rt-eieo- j the rascalities uud swindling of the
lion to Congress. The Atlanta Con- revenue officials by dtagging oft* iuuo-
btilotiODi of the 12th, in u strong ml* cent citizens, forcing them to prin< n,
itonul, urges the people of the State hund-cuftitig and shooting them down
to st ud nil the present delegation like dogs, is what constitutes Felton a
back, us they have thuexpelietico, etc. WORSE Democtat than Dabney in
bo supererogation. Wo tiro willing
to trust him if the people are. Wo
believe if elected ho will make an
able and faithful niniuhcr.
The Rome Courier in ranting ami
snorting lit cause l)r. Felton did not
go in person before the "Twonly-Sevo-
uti” who mot at Dalton, and who the
Courier styles thu "legal embodiment
of the party." Every doltgate in that
convention know tlio proposition was
made in good faith, but thu few who
went to Dalton were deteimiuod to
listen to no proposition from any ono,
uud afb r publicly making the prop
osition Dr. Felton did, uud then to go
befura that little so-culled convention
and renew it, would have boon at the
sacrifice of bis manliness and dignity.

The special correspondent of the
London Times Says it would bo diffi
cult to find an npter illustration of
thn big way in which tlio Americans
do things than that furnished by tho
"Centennial Newspaper Building,” in
the Exhibition grounds. Hem you
may soo any one, or, if you liko, all ol

them, one and all, for nothing ! Yo
aro not only permitted as a favor to

confer the favor of entering the build

erary attructioiiH—as a visitor to the
exhibition could wish to lie offered a

how, among 8,000 papeis, among
tin ill such mighty sheets as the New

loved print of his homo, thousands of
miles away, it may bw, over tlio Rocky
Mountains. But the management is
so simple that, by consulting the c.it-

catalogue, auy on j can ut once find
