wo observed a gre it waste going on

very best manure is allowed to ho

which could bo saved by a few min

OBIT FA HIES.
Died, in the city of Cartursvillo, on
the morning of the oighth inst, of the
great "Feituui iu Malady," tho follow
ing immoital indomitable heroes of
“Organized Democracy"— so-called,
and workers of oniquity among tho
people : J. W. II., and 0. H. W. (
(Both of whom died distressingly
hard) R. W. M., J. W. V... T. W. M.
and J. E. W., all of whom aro dead,
dead, dead. Thank God. Lot tho
people rejoice and bo exceeding glad,
for grout is their victory. It will ro-
quiro a greater miracle than tho ono
wrought at Iho gravo of Lazarus to
resurrect them.
Aypropriato funeral obsequies wore

Strange to say, the more medicine

the worse they become, aud, to toll

it was tho medicine that ended tluiir

prayer. Vox Popoli.

Tho power of simple kindness can
not bo over intimated. Solomon
drovo a whole volume of meaning in
to a single phrase when ho uttered
that lei se, strangely worded proverb,
“A soft tongue breuketh the bone.”
We have udvunced howcAer, to the
opinion in these days that hard words
— and sometimes something a good
houl harder and weightier ihuti words
are necessary to break men’s bones.
The luck of a gentlemanly, brother
ly kindness, is working ruin among
us as a people. Take the daily pa
pers, g„ and as wo glunco over Re
publican sheets, note tho statements
und insinuations, and ono would think
that the opposite party is really made
up of swindlers, petjnren- and cut
throats. And tho same is true of
the attitude and hearing of the Dem
ocratic press towards l ho Republican
party. As to the merits of the case,
v\e would simply suggest tBut it is
barely possible that there is a very
little, at bust, of something ubide
from concentrated meanness in both
parties. N"W would it not bo better
to stop tins pernicious boyish habit,
of calling each other ugly names ?
It occurs lo us that it would bo more
muuly und better for tho morals of
the country, for political editors to
confine themselves to tho discussion
of principles, instead of making ugly
fucos ut their opponents. Hard woi ds,
biting, acrimonious buyings never con
vert men. Be kind. If your oppon
ent is wrong, convince him by kind
words, manly argument. Men have
tho right to differ, but no rigtit to bo
unkind. Let every oue treat his fel
low us a biother, deal kindly with him
iu his error, supposed or real, and tho
nation will be saved. Be kind.—
