It seems wo are getting, into tho middle of things in quick order. The failure of lit.-publican States to appoint their full complement of elootors, which iu Illinois, lkmnsyl- > vania, Rhode Island, Vermont mid j Oregon constitutes the alt amative to tho election of Democratic electors because of tho casting of Republican ballots for in eligible prisons, will not as many suppose 1 , throw tho election in Jo tho Houso. Tho majority re quired by tho Constitution is not a j •majority of all the electors the States tiro entitled to appoint, hut of the number actually appointed; and so, | if tho votes of the disputed Status should bo stolen for Hayes tho luck of two Republican electoral votes j would elect Tilde it upon lln» face id the returns.
