from what the reporter of the Atlan

cotton factory:
At prosout, in tho wholo factory
there uro placed in working order
10,304 spindles, and 250 looms. Tho
complement of tho machinery tho
building will hold is 20,000 spindles,
and 500 looms. This machinery,
however, is «•> much better than i.fil
er patents that it can accomplish
much inoro work than tho sumo
amount of tho styles in use in older
factorios.
When tho factory commences oper
ations, about -60 operatives will bo
rc<|uirod, though tho number will of
course be largely increased when tho
full amount of machinery is pul in
use. A gi nlIonian who knows all
about cotton factorios calmly remark
ed fter going through tho building
“This will bo tho most completo
cotton mill in tho world when it is
fully finished.” Wo uro inclined to
ngreo with him, for it appears to ho
in every respect a perfect model. Tho
building itself is magnificent. It is
made of tho very host brick .with walla
thick enough to stand a thousand
oarthijuukes, and with girders and
clasps of iron so arranged bonouUi
every tloor us to prevent that oieili i-
ting motion which is almost invaria
bly folt in ordinary factorios. Tho
jarring of the machinery is a terrible
strain on a building, but our factory
is firm enough to stand a far auverer
teat. Tho moans of ascent is easy
and light, and one feels more like go
ing up into a hotel than abounding
the steps of u cotton factory. On
every tloor there is a hOBO and tho
