Fits James Patrick will not mu as a
Radical candidate lor Congress in this
Distiict.
“Breathless” all, Fiiz James arose.
Poor South Carolina.
A lot, of black and white Radicals
fired into a party of colored and white
Democrats at Cainhoy, S. C., last week,
and kiiied and wounded about fifteen ot
the latter. A political meeting was go
ing on at the lime.
Grant has issued a proclamation order
ing the Rifle Clubs and o'her Democrat"
io organizations in South Carolina to dis
band at once.
The Radicals, fioin the President
down to the smallest deputy Marshal,
so called, are doing all they eun to defeat
the coming Democratic victory in No
vember. But it’s coming; even in down
trodden South Carolina. And when
November comes, victory will perch on
our banuere, and wisdom, justice and
moderation will once more rule this glo
rious country.
Tuesday, the Tth day of November, is
the day for the election of Presidential
Electors and for members of Congress.
Lets see how many white men will arm
a negro, give him a drink, and vote him
for the cause of Democracy and reform.
Oh; ye Patriots; now's year time. Treat
and vote, and all will he well.

Tuesday’s sun went down on a battle
field all “rolled in smoke even now we
lack the uninterrupted view necessary
tor precise computation of results and
consequences. IV e know, however,
that we have won a decided victory in
Indiana, and fought a drawn battle in
Ohio that is equivalent to a Republican
defeat. Mr. Hendricks has shown con
clusively that he brings strength t<> the
national ticket; Mr. tiayes that he is a
load to his paity, when a candidate ot
positive character would have helped it.
Ohio is transferred frocuhe ‘Kepuolican’
to the ‘douhitul’ column ; Indiana is no
longer doubtful, but I'i niocialic. In
each. Slate the lull Republican strenght,
with all extraneous appliances, has been
developed. We enter on the Novcmoei
election with the certainty that Messrs.
Chandler and Morton cannot again con
centrate their lands and fortes on these
two Slates and that the ‘waiters on prov
idence’ will reinforce us.
While the gallant Democrats of Ohio
and Indiana thus have their work made
easier and their brethren elsewhere
have been cncoui aged and holpen might
