The Patapsco Company have just
erected a very large factory here,
where they expect to compound large
quantities, making this the chief
depot for the States of Georgia,
North and South Carolinas, Ten

government is once again secured to
this robber ridden Union, and trade
settled in the prosperous channels, in
which it was wont to flow, the pros
perity of Augusta is insured ; this fact
seems to be appreciated by a* com
pany of English capitalists, by whom
several hundred acres of land ad
joining the canal, (just outside the
corporate limits) have been purchas
ed ; the property has been regularly
laid out in lots intersected by broad
avenues, and the whole effectually
drained by magnificent brick seivers
built beneath the surface; this proper
ty is held by the company in the an
ticipation of the erection of numerous
factories, > when .the lots will coin-

being fine sites for the building of

great demand;as sites for the -crec-
