show what real enjoyments these new
fruits give to others as well*as fo my
weeds, will enable the owner to show

deed, does nature reveal such treas
ures in the strawberry world as is this,
and we cannot do less than Rhow our
appreciation of her rich gifts by re
lating their splendid qualities. Both
this year and the last have scores of
Gi-eat Americans been grown eight,
and in some instances, over nine
inches in circumference, weighing
over two ounces eacli and requiring
only eight of them to make a pound.

amining the. berries, and a single
glance has shown them that these
measurements had been correctly

that may be derived from tlm straw
berry garden, and make a fine com
bination of size and color upon the

deeply spaded ground, will add
greatly to the successful growing of
this fruit. Obtain such varieties as
are worth growing. It is better to
send to a distance for them, as they
can be safely sent through the mails
a thousand miles or more if rightly
wrapped, than to set out inferior or
nearly worthless kinds that are want
ing in size or flavor. Good varieties
