THE POLITICAL CAMPAIGN OF 1876
which include* National, State and count)’ obc
ritiiK*, and which will undoubtedly bo the most
active- and hotly contested of any since the me
morable canvas’s of 1800 is now fairly opened
The National Democratic Party will this year
make a bold, vigorous, and doubtless successful
>truggle for the maintenance and supremacy ol
those principles which are vital to the prosperity
of the Republic and essential to the well-being
of the people.
In addition to the Presidential election, the
people in Georgia and Florida will elect new
Sla'c governments. In Florida the campaign
promises to be unusually vigorous, and there is
a probability that for the first time since the
war the people of that ltadical-ridden State will
elect a Democratic State government. In these
campaigns the people of the South are deeply
interested; and every intelligent citizen, who
lots the welfare of his country and his section at
!n-ait, should acquaint himself with every detail
of the great work of redemption and reform tha'
is now going on.
To tiiis end he should subscribe to and assist
in circa) ding the Savannah Morning News, an
independent Democratic news paper,of pronounc
ed opinions and fearless in their expression; a
paper that is recognized everywhere as the best
daily in the South, its editorial department is
\ igorous, thoughtful, and i-onsistent, while its
news and local departments are marvels ot in
dustry and completeness. Its department of
Georgia arid Florida affairs is n<t confine and to a
mere batron summary of events transpiring in
those States, but is enlivened by comment at
once apt, tiine'y, and iaoy.
The ample resources of the establishment will
he devoted to furnishing the readers of the
with the latest intelligence from all parts of the
WTld, through the press dispatches, special tcl
-•g-.iros, and by means of special correspondence;
•iLd through tiics agencies the paper will be
the earliest chronicler of every noteworthy inci
dent of the political campaign of IS?0.
