On last Sunday night week,
while a largo congregation ltad
assembled at the Methodist church
quite a number of small dogs
that had taken advantage to . fol
low their owners on this occasion,

While a mother with her babe
about two-and-a-lialf years old

most annoying pests began their
disturbance, and tho whole church
was in a motion of excitement.
Notwithstanding tho excitement of
the congregation, the little bake

condition.
If it were not for tho expenso we
should be tempted to ask our next
Legislature to give us two weeks
instead of ono. There was a large
amount of business dono here last-

left undone that needs attention

tried was the oase of the Stuto vs.
W. R. Shephard, ohargt-d with
murdering his wife Sallio Shep
hard, on tho 21st of Junuury last,
this ease wus taken up on Thurs
day morning and closed Friday at
12 m. Tho Stuto was ably repre
sented by Col. Bttssey, Sol. Gcnl;
Muj. Holsey andMr.Uarson. The
prisoner by Cols. W. 8 Wallace
and W. P. Edwards. The Jury
remained out only long enough to
write the verdict ot nr*-guilty.
