ty are hereby requested to bold a
mass-meeting at the court bouse
in Butler at 12 o'clock on Satur
day the 20th day of July, for the
purpose of eleoting delegates to
represent them iu the next Con
gressional Convention. A full
turn-out is expected, as other mat
ters of importance may be discuss
ed,

An Interesting Sermon.
On last Saturday night an in
teresting sermon was preached in
the Methodist church by Rev. W
D. Johnson, a distinguished min
ister of the A. M. E. church,
Regular Meeting, Town Council,
Hoti.kk, Ua, ,Tulv 11th, 1S78.
The Council met according to
adjournment. Present. Alderman
Allen, Colbert, Lipscy and Mo.it-
fort. Absoot—His Honor, I). A.
Smith,Mayor and Alderman Wal
ker.
Alderman Colbert was elected
Mayor, pro, tem.
The minutes of Inst meeting
were read and confirmed.
The Clerk reported lie had col
lected the sum of one hundred and
twenty-five dollars from J, W,
Lipsey, for balance due on liquor
license.
The mice weie, on motion sus
pended, and a icsulution passed
directing the Treasurer to pay 0.
M, Colbert,one hundred and twen
ty-five dollars for principal and
interest due on curtain buuds on
said town.
An ordinance was passed with
reference to defacing church,shoo),
college or other public buildings
Council then adjourned.

tively aud individually.
