Mr. Black, who is a drummer for
the well-knowu and reliable firm- of
8. T. Coleman & Co., of Macon, hud
stolen from his ptAasion, a very large
trunk containing samples of shoes. The
trunk was stolen by a negro whom Mr.
Black had ployed to carry it to the
hotel. However the trunk was found
next morning in the woods broken
open with a part the contents missing,

loss of two of his children a few days

beTed, was committed on tho 7th
ovember 1878, for tins killing ,of
Toni 8i-arcy, on the plantation of Dr.
J S. Searcy, in this comity* He tva>
bailed out at t it is said) one hit fid red
dollars, and Costs, by Mr S. B* Bald
win Jr. As a genelnl thing the crim
inals were found guiMy. J'!d. Christo
pher formerly of Reynolds, but late of
this county, was tried for killing a hog,
and sentenced sixteen months in the
chain gang. There were several others
tried for ti e same offense, and all sen
tenced to take recreation in. the chain
Talkot.
