About ago the doctors discovered that their patient bad lost his mind entirely. Af ter becomiuing crazy he reached the conplusion that his family as w«rll ns the doctors were trying to starve him, so last week he decided to kill himself and save them the trouble of doing it. The negroes on the place lmd a quilts ing and had cooked a great deal to feed the quilters. Sellars by some means found this out and made his way to the negro quilting and told them that it was his intention and desire to kill himself and that he would have one more meal before he did so. He then began to eat and before he quit had consumed everything that was cooked to feed fifteen or twenty negroes; after which he climed to the house top for the purpose of jumping off and killiug himself, hut fortunately was discovered by l^s mother, who persuaded him out of the noth'U. Last Sunday he again decided to kill himself, .and getting hold of a h’.miner with it climbed to the top of his mother’s bouse nr.d there avowed his intention to commit sui cide if they did n<>t give him what lie wanted to eat. lie at once began to catl for raw eggs and had tlienr to tost iHhu up to him wknh he would catch and eat. After eating all the eggs tliat could be ftHmd he then began to call for first one tiling and another avowing at the same time that lie wot.Id kill himself if they refuged to give hiui what lie called for All of his demands were gratified until almost everything in the way of esculent bad been devoured. Immediately after t'nding that they would not longer sup ply his demands, anti they did not ^ivo him more because there was no more to give him, he raised the hammer above bis head made a motion or two and at the same time calling for more food. Seeing that they would not give him more he let in on the top of his head with the hammer, delt several blows with all his power then turned lose and rolled from the house top to the ground. When w*e arrived we found him seated upon the bed, per fectly calm anti without the least indi cation of pain. A worse looking, more emaciated and bloody a man 1 never have seen.
