Blit Nomination of Senator.
The Executive Committee of thin
couut.y decided, at its last meeting
and we believe the decision was
unanimous to recommend to the
Senatorial Executive Committee of
this district, that the nomination
of candidate for Senator be by pri
mal ies, and held in all three of
the counties on the same day. In
other words, it is recommended
that all the counties in the district
participate in the nomination of
the candidate—the only restriction
Wing that a citizen of Taylor shall
ecsivo the nomination; but in all
wtlier respects a voter in Houston
or Crawford will have as much
right to say who the candidate
shall be, as a voter in Taylor coun
ty.
We can seo no valid objection to
this plan. By courtesy each coun
ty in the district is allowed
to furnish the candidate
turn; but in the event, there are
several candidates in the county
whose time it is, we do not see very
well how nomination could be made,
say by Taylor alone, unless the
several candidates in the county
would consent to it. The nomi
nation of Senator, is a matter of
equal concern to all the Democrats
in the district, and any candidate
it seems to us has the right if he
pees proper to appeal to the whole
district to pass upon his candidacy.
This is just what we understand,
more or less of the candidates of
this county did. The Executive
Committee of this county was no
tified, so we are informed, by at
least one of the tandidates that he
insisted on his right to
appeal to the whole district. This
being the case, our Executive Com
mittee couM on'y recommend to
the Senatorial Executive Commit
tee, the manner in which the can
didate should be selected.
The question, however, cannot
be considered as finally settled un
til the District Executive Commit
lee passes upon it;—that being the
authority charged with the matter.
That committee we doubt not will
act wisely and to the best in'erest
of the party. Whatever that de
cision may be, it will, we t>-ust
give satisfaction, since it cannot be
supposed by the committee will act
wiih the purpose <>f ben slitting or
injuring auy of the candidates.
Pnt-
ies selected
delegates toTl^utematoml con
vention—the first -electing Gordon,
and the last Bacon delegates. This
at the time we write, gives Gordon
fifty eight aud Bacon fo
votes.
The result thus far is’
to th*vd;'iends of Geueral
When it is remembered,
of the friends of Major B
been working in his intere
lomr time previous to the a
ment of the candidacy of
Gordon;—that they, the fris
Major Bacon, had succeed
siezing on the votes of several
counties before a single effort had
been made by the friends of Gen
eral Gordon;—when all this, and
much more is remembered, we say
that the friends of General Gordon
have every reason to be encouraged.
We predict, that from this time
on, General Jordon will continue
fo gain in ■^^mi^^^oportion
he ha; or
weeks.
We believe that GeneralGordon
will go into the convention with a
majority sufficiently large to give
him the nomination, even under
the two-thirds rule. Indeed, we
believe the close of the campaign
will show that General Gordon has
a hold on the confidence and affec
tions of our people so strong as to
discourage even Doctor Felton and
his independent schemes.

nnot be donp without some ac
tion on the part of the Legislature;
and if it is feared that there will be
any improper action on the part
of the Executive, let the Legisla
ture organize a commission to lease
the road. Of course, it will be
said the people ought net to elect a
man for their governor that they
cannot trust. But that is no suffi
cient answer to our suggestion; be
cause the friends of General Gor
don are willing to trust him
There is nothing in his past record
to make them feel in the least un
easy. As to Major Bacon, we will
say that the friends of Gordon are
as willing to trust the Major
his friends are to trust General
Gordon.
The truth is, that if we are to
judge by appearance, the sympa
thies ol Major Bacon are much
stronger for the railroads than
those of General Gordon. But we
are not frightened by all this talk
of railroad monopoly. Many
Turn oiri next Saturday and vote

Voters go to the Polls.
The friends of GeDeial Gordon
in this couuty no doubt feel that
the county is safe for their favorite.
There is, we think, little doubt
that General Gordon has, at least,
twice the strength of Major Bacon.
Just in this feeling, however, lies
any danger there may he of this
county selecting Bacon delegates.
The executive committee of the
county has done its whole duty in
ordering the selection of delegates
by primaries. The place of voting
has been brought as close as possi
ble to the door of every vo;er, so
that our farmers may not lose more
time than is absolutely necessary
for the purpose of voting It re
mains with tlse people now to dis
charge their duty by coming for
ward and voting.
We use the word “duty” advis
edly; for this being a government
of the people, by the people, it is
clearly the duty of the people to
come forwaid and say by their
votes, which candidate they believe
is best fitted for the office of Chief
Magistrate of this State.
Let no Gordon man say in his
own mind that this county is safe
for Gordon, and that, therefore, he
will stay at home. Ilow will such

to learn that the State has

concerned we have no war to make
on the railroads; and in thin res

trust either Major Bacon or Gen

We learn from a “reliable”
gentleman, that our friend, Col.
Grimes, will certainly cany all the

with a good chance to carry two

probability is, that he will go into
the convention with at least as
many, if not more votes than either
one of the other candidate. This
is certainly cheering to us “piney

Neither Col. Harris nor Col-

these gentlemen should not consider
this a fight against them.

There are three liundered Skin
Diseases. Hence the innumerable
host of Blood Remedies. But there
is only ODe Neuralgia-pain in the
nerve. And the fact is equally
established that there is but one
remedy, and that is
mi m m.
The experience of hundreds who
have been cured by the Julep at
test this fact. A physician regards
it a test for Neuralgia, so quick
and surply does it remove pain. If
you suffer get this remedy and take
it. Neuralgia is common; it is
serious, liable to attack any vital
organ, aud if not suddenly carrying
you off, leads to untold suffering
and misery. One bottle has cured
as many as half a dozen cases. Try
it if you suffer. It cannot be sur
passed in removing pain.
