fin another column of this issue, in
{reference to amending the section

With Mrs I W Garrett superintend-

One of the most interesting literary
schools, is now being taught iiere, that
we have ever had. Miss Claude Pass
more is presiding over it ami since the
children have gotten under her chargo
the minds of the parents are wholly at
rest, feeling and knowing she will do
what is best for. them; She has now
fifty-four pupils and they are still com
ing iu. Miss Claude is an accomplish,
cd young lady, and deserves a good
school. We feel that it wag fortunate
for us to havo secured heribr a teach
er and trope tg have her next year, site
has gained the affection of the children
and besides helping them to obtain
knowledge from their text books, she
is often heard impressing on their
minds the way they should live, al
ways felling them of God’s great and
wonderoue love. There are a good
many von rig men and htdies going who
have proven themselves to be good ex
amples for the younger ones.
Miss Kate Watson, came very near
being killed last week while standing
near the cane mill. The mules start

There is but oce way for the South

be controlled by those who have
