perior eourt, 1911, beg to submit the
following as our General Presentments:
We deem it unnecessary to examine
the books of the treasurer, tax collec
tor, sheriff and county school commis

last October grand jury appointed a
special committee to audit these books
and report to this grand jury, which
examination and report .was recently
finished, submitted, which is hereto at
tached and made a part ef these pre
sentments.
AUDITOR’S REPORT _
(SEE NEXT COLUMN.)
We have, by committee, examined
the books of the various J. P.’s and ex
officio J. P.’s of the county, and find
them correctly kept, except the books
of J. P. for the 853d district, who, we
find, has failed to enter the cost on his
docket in cases tried by him. We rec
ommend that in the future he enter all
his legal cost on his dockets in each
ease tried or disposed of.
We find the jail in a good sanitary
condition. We find some repairs neces
sary on the court house, and recommend
that the proper authorities take notice
of same.
We recommend that all tax fi fas
returned and put on insolvent list have
the proper entry made on the them, it
having come to our knowledge that
several tax fi fas have been returned
and allowed on insolvent list that did
not have the legal and proper entry
thereon.
We recommend that J. T. Adams be
appointed N. P. and ex-officio J. P. for
Butler district, 757; W. T. England he
appointed N. P. and ex-officio J. P. for
the 737; and C. O. White he appointed
N. P. and ex-officio J. P. for the 1071st
district.
We recommend that Sarah Peeplos,
colored, Judge Griffin and Peter Daniel,
colored, be put on the pauper list and
that they he paid the sum of one dollar
and fifty cents each per month.
We approve and endorse the propo
sition of our county commissioners iD
ordering an election for the purpose of
voting on bonds to work our public roads
and a majority of this body is heartily
in favor of same.
We, as a body, tender a vote of
thanks to the foreman and secretary
for their courteous and efficient man
ner in which they have presided at
this term of the court.
We recommend that these present
ments be published in The Butler Her
ald and that the editor, 0. E. Benns, be
paid the sum of $10 for the publication
of same.
In taking leave of his honor, Judge
Gilbert, and G. C. Palmer ,our solicitor,
we desire to tender our thanks for their
advice and their courtesy and kindness
shown us during this term of the court.
Respectfully submitted,
J. T. ADAMS, Foreman.

The above statement was gotten up from vouchers, etc., actually pro
duced, and not from the treasurer’s ledger account.
We have examiend the books of the sheriff, and would suggest that the
margin on the right hand of the pages of the execution docket be filled ont,
thereby showing the disposition of the executions entered thereon, whether
levy and sale made—in which event referring to the page of the sales record—
or whether settled by agreement, or if blank will show that execation is still in
hands of sheriff. We would also suggest that the. sheriff’s sales record show
more complete descriptions of the property sold.
At the request of the County School Commissioner, we examined his
books and records, and find that they are correct. -
Respectfully submitted,
W. W. FAT, Chairman.
W. E. MARSHALL,
E. 3. MIMS,
Committee.
We recommend that the suggestion referred to by the committee in ref
erence to the sheriff’s books be complied with.
