“St Patrick Social.
The Wesley Bible Class was
entertained at their regular social
last week by the Misses Mussle-
white at their country home.
The entertainment was given
over entirely to the honor of St
Patrick and his emerald isle; the
color scheme of green being car
ried out in every way.
The evening opened with an
Irish Program of songs and read
ings; then the “Pat” Contest, most
marvel and entertaining in its way
was engaged in. Miss Nita Mat
thews was the lucky contestant
and received as a prize a dainty
little basket filled with green can
dy.
Other games were then enjoyed
until, at a convenient hour, the
hostess served the guests to a de
licious salad course and iced tea.
As the guests departed they
were given, as a souvenir, a card
bearing on it ahand painted sham-
.rack and these words:”
“Here’s to yez if
ye’re Irish—
an’ if ye’re not,
Bedad,
Here’s wishin’ ye
were!”

How Sunflower Got Its Name.
Two reasons have been assigned foi
the sunflower being so-called, one be
ing because the large bloom resembles
the radiant beams of the sun, and the
other because of its tendency to turn

Linen Industry in Egypt.
Egypt was the center of the linen
