EAT POTATOES NOW AND SAVE WHEAT—
GEORGIA IS ABUNDANTLY STOCKED WITH THEM
T O DISPOSE of a (rest surplus of potatoes and to save more wheat
for shipment to our troops at the front and our Allies, everyone
is asked to increase their consumption of potatoes and reduce
their consumption of wheat bread during the cert month.
If each of the 3,000,000 persons in Georgip over 6 years of age
would eat three extra potstoes daily and save three slices of bread
daily, it would represent the consumption of 1,9*4.700 pounds of po
tatoes per day and a saving of 250,000 loaves of bread.
Potatoes can not be carried over. Should the present surplus be
allowed to waste, it will discourage the farmers and growers and may
result in an insufficient supply for next season.

Sculptor's Masterpiece.
The ft tnous statue of St. Bruno at
Rome was made by the great master
of French sculpture, Houdon (1741-
1828). At the invitation of Franklin,
Houdon visited America in the year
1785 and took casts for the statue of
Washington, now at Richmond, Va„
Bald by Lafayette to be the best like
ness obtained of the “American Pa

The most expensive wood in the
world Is said to be the boxwood im
ported from Turkey for the use of en
gravers. The cost ranges from four
;ents a square inch up to ten cents a
square inch for the best grade. An
ordinary wagon load of boxwood
would cost many thousand dollars. A
string of beads made of it would be
a fairly expensive piece of jewelry.

Catarrhal Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot reach
the diseased portion of the ear. There is
only one way to cure catarrhal deafness,
and that is by a constitutional remedy.
Catarrhal Deafness is caused by an In
flamed condition of the mucous lining of
the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is
inflamed you have a rumbling sound or im
perfect hearing, and when it is entirely
closed, Deafness is the result. Unless the
inflammation can be reduced and this tune
restored to its normal condition, hearing
will be destroyed forever. Many cases of
deafness are caused by catarrh, which is
an Inflamed oonditlon of the mucous sur
faces. Hall's Catarrh Medicine acts thru
the blood on the mucous surfaces of the
system.
We will give One Hundred Dollars t*r

Suffer Terribly With Corns Be
cause of High Heels, But Why
Suffer Now.
Women wear high heels which
buckle up their toes and they suf
fer terribly with corns. Women
then proceed to trim these pests,
seeking relief, but they hardly
j realize the terrible danger from in-
j fection, says the Cincinnati au-
(thority.
Corns can easily be lifted out
with the fingers if you will get
from any drug store a quarter of
an ounce of a drug called freezone.
This is sufficient to remove every
| hard or soft corn or callus from
one’s feet. You simply apply a
few drops directly upon the ten
der, aching corn or callus. The
soreness is relieved at once and
soon the entire corn or callus, root
and all, lifts out without one par
ticle of pain.
This freezone is a sticky sub
stance which dries in a moment.
It just shrivels up the corn with
out inflaming or even irritating
the surrounding tissue.. or skin.

GEORGIA GIRLS TO PLANT GARDENS
Valdosta, Ga.—(Special.|—-“What any instance affect the school wore

‘Plant gardens, large gardens. We

way you can help abundantly.”
The girls compiled with that advice,
but they did not stop at that. They
started a Victory Garden—a big one—
and every one of the 325 students took
an active and energetic interest in
It. The fact that they were in col

The South Georgia Normal, while au

1911, when it opened with a total en

enrollment of 323 students means that
It has grown nearly 1500 per cent in
five years. Practlcaily the entire stu

South Georgia's most popular college
for girls.
The school is located almost within
the city limits of Valdosta. It has
sixty acres of campus, garden and.

mitory and administration building in
which the school rooms are located,
and its faculty is oue of the finest
in the South. Another dormitory and
