Funeral services for Mrs. G. T.
Watson were conducted Sunday af
ternoon at the home of her daughter
Airs. AI. V. Schied. Her death oc
curred Saturday morning, July 6th,
following a prolonged serious illness.
She was seventy-five years of age
Mrs. Watson had been a resident in
this community for thirty-five years,
many of which had been spent in the
city of Whitesboro. She was one of
those sweet, old fashioned mothers,
whose ideals and characteristics were
an inspiration to those whose privi-
end with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Whut-
ley.

Mr. and Airs. Asa Spinks and chil
dren of Thomaston, spent the week
end with their parents here.
Mrs. Clyde Wilson delightfully en
tertained her Club last Wednesday
with her. She was the mother of
twelve children, three of whom died
in infancy. Together with her hus
band, who survives her, she braved
the hardships of the earlier days that
the children might have the advan
tages and opportunities ambitious
parents have for their children.Suc-
cessful in their undertakings, these
nine children reared to maturity by
these adoring parents, today serve
with credit the communities in which
they make their homes.
Mrs. Watson, until infirmity for
bad, was an active and conscientious
church worker, having been a mem
ber of the Baptist church. Hei* mem
bership was first placed in the Bap
tist church of Sadler but at the time
of her death was in the Baptist
church of Whitesboro. To the best of
her ability and energies she served
in all of its branches. To her children
she gave the wonderful heritage of a
true Christian home.
Mrs. Watson was born in Butler,
Ga., June 19, 1854. On December 3,
1871, she was married to G. T. Wat
son. Children of this union who su
vive their mother are Forrest W
son, Hannie Watson, Houston W.
son, Sam Watson of Whitesbo
John Watson of Quanah, Tom W.
son, of Lone Wolf, Okla., Mrs. J
Scott of Dixie, and Mrs. Frank SI
ley of Tecumseh, Okla. All of thf
were at her .bedside during her i
ness and those whose homes are else
where made repeated visits to their
mother during her life time. Thirty-
seven grand-children and twenty-
three great grand-children also sur
vive, as do two sisters whose homes
are in Georgia.
The funeral services were conduct
ed by Rev. O. B. Darby, pastor of the
Baptist church, at the Scheid home
where she had lived the past several
months. Mr. and Mrs. Watson re
tained their own home until 'her
health became too bad to shoulder the
domestic responsibilities. Pall bear
ers were nine of her grandsons: Em- j
mett, Harry, Wayne, and Andrew (
Scheid and Van, R. S., Carl, Cecil i
and Ray Watson.
