The Carswell plan of paying this debt by taking
the money from the tag fund is the only way by
which it can be paid promptly and without increas-
i ,g taxes. It will not seriously affect road building,
as there will still remain fourteen million dollars for
that purpose. Russell is the man who cast the decid
ing vote for the bill that is Responsible for this debt.
Still, he shows no interest in its payment. A vote for
Carswell for Governor is a vote for the school chil
dren, veterans, insane asylum and other state in-*
ftitutions. ....

County Board of Road and Revenues
in regular session Tuesday cut the
Clay county tax rate from $12.60 to
$7.50, the county is about out of debt
and the income is greater than the dis
bursements so the county officials de
cided to cut the rate as they did not
need the money. The county was *50,-
in debt three years ago and
they disposed .of their convicts and
the indebtedness now is about $8,600.
Clay county has the lowest tax rate
of any county in this part of the state.

Could we but call you back, Mrs.Dent,
We know you would not come,
But you would only tell us
To press toward that home.
We loved her, yes we loved her,
But Jesus loved her more
In yonder bright mansion,
Shq will rest forevermore.
Safe- in the arms of Jesus,
Safe 1 on his gentle breast
There by his love overshadowed
Sweetly her soul shall rest.
Heaven retaineth now our treasure,
Earth the lonely casket keeps
And the sunbeams love to linger
Where our dearest friend sleeps.

A NEW SPIRIT
ie World Agrees that
•odyears are Best!
There has been a great-
change in funeral customs
since the day of our grand
fathers. Many of the practices
decreed by custom at that
time needlessly cruel to the
bereaved relatives and friends
The modern funeral director
tries in every way to empha
size the mood of hopefulness
rather than that , of gloom.
This lightens the burden of the
living without detracting from
the proper reverence for those
who have passed on.

In sad and loving memory of
dear niece, Julia Watson, who
parted this life Aug. 2, 1930.
One sad month since you left us
Whom we cherished and loved
dear
Can we help but feel so lonely
When we do not see you here?
It was hard to give you up darling
But we hope some day to meet you
In those mansions -bright and fair
Where there’ll be no parting,never
any more farewells.
Could we call you back dear Julia,
We know you would not come
But you would only tell us .
To press toward that happy home.
We loved you yes we loved you,
But the Good Lord loved you best
In yonder heavenly mansion
You will rest forever -more.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on his gentle breast,
There by his love overshadowed,
Sweetly hej- soul shall rest.

Earth the lonely casket keeps
And the sunbeams love to linger
Where our darling sweetly sleeps.
