THE HOBO
(Rosalyirt Pnager, Brooklyn, N. Y.)
Sally iwais modem—in every sense
of the wind. She would scoff at the
stories of what her grandmother, or
how many men her great-uncle had
killed isi-ngfe-bianded, but she did
have some of their persistent traits
running through heir veins. Some
times her inherited talents came
gushing forth in great volleys of
sour temperament, but then, she
would tilt her head way up ini the
air somewhere, amid -give you a beau
tiful smile, which was quite heart
warming i-n its friendliness. Sally
was always oar the go—-if circum
stances ware boring, she would' re
strain her restlessness for a few
more momenta and then take a five
minute walk about the .premises.
Quite often she would return and
whisper discreetly to her friends
what a jolly time she had enjoyed
with the old, Irish janitor, and what
“spiffy” puppies he possessed. And
then she would laugh pleasantly, so
that he black ringle'.s would dance
merrily about her face, and repeat
with habitual indifference, her fam
ous main, “Hadleluia! Dm a brail"
And indeed, she WAS a littte one.
