Wedding Anniversary Reception Is Given Rev. & Mrs. Tinsley The members of tihe Reynolds and Crowell Methodist churches enter tained Brother and Mrs. T. H. Tins ley with a surprise Silver Wedding Anniversary Reception at ‘Jie par sonage, Friday evening, April 22. This being the night for Quarterly Conference to be held, the Tinsleys’, and those who were not serving on u committee met at the church. While conference was being held, a transformation was taking place at the parsonage. Mrs. R. L. Bell and Miss Beulah Barrow, who were in charge of the decorations, brought in vase after vase Of flowers. Mrs. Jim Brewer and Mrs. Guy Windham swiftly arranged the ta bles for punch. These tables were decorated with sprays of Dorothy Perkins roses. Mrs. F. M. Carson and Mrs. G. J. Hicks had/ charge of the brule’s ta ble. 'Tile table was overlaid with a lovely lace cloth. The 'Wedding cake was of three tiers, iced in white with pink and green floral decora tions topped, with a minature bride and groom. Placed at intervals,' in silver candlesticks were pink and white tapers. Green and white mints in silver bonbon dishes and roses in silver vases completed this exquisite table. While these preparations were be ing made, the refershment committee was busy icing the punch ani ar ranging the sandwiches. This com- mitttee was composed of Mrs. a. V. Brewer, Mrs. R. E. Aultman, Mrs. W. A. Saunders, Mrs. W. E. Mar shall, Jr., Mrs. B. E. Flowers, Mrs R L. Swearingen and Miss Clara Musslewhite. ai nut, everytmng was ready. A. W. Reese of Macon, Bro. Larry Anderson of Roberta, and Bro. and Mrs. Hendley Jeliks formed a receiv ing line and Mrs. M. J. Wood pre sented the guests to them. ‘men the TUnsleys were invited to tne dining i-oom and presented with two gilts, one, a silver repousse server, from tneir son, Carroll, ~aiid six silver compotes, each engraved with an old English “T”, from Rey nolds and Crowell churches. The Tinsleys expressed their apprecia tion in a few well chosen words. Bro. Tinsley confessed how he had discovered our secret a few days previous, but hadn't told anyone, so Mrs. Tinsley was genuinely sur prised. Mrs. B. W. Hinton sang, ”T Eovh You Truly,” the song which she sang at the Tinsleys’ wedding. She also sang, “Because.” She was accompa nied by Miss iMarie Barrow. Mrs. Tinsley then cut the cake, af ter which the other guests did. Much enjoyment was derived iron] the fortune telling favors. Among which Miss Laurice Aultman receiv ed the button, Miss Dellna Jelks, the engagement ring, Jimmy Carsoh he wedding ring, Carroll Tinsley, the pipe, Mrs. W. M. Hollis, the doll and Mrs. M. J. Wood the key. Punch and sandwiches were served by the members of the League, among whom were Misses Frances Carter, Mary One Brewer, Eugenia Joiner, Dorothy Mason, Martha Smifh, Janie Ruth Aldridge, Harriet Thornton, Audrey Waters, Winifred Kirksey and Katherine Wilson. Between 125 and 150 guests called to express their love and congratu lation do the Tinsleys and to enjoy this festive occasion. —A Guest. Harp had been signed and sent to registrai of the Georgia Division. Also Severn! application blanks were given to oth er prospective members. The Chapter 'voted to contribute $5.00 to the library. The next monthly meeting will be held June 3rd in observance of Jeff Davis’ birthday. At this meeting the thirteen trees planted commemorat ing the Sesqui-Centennial of signing of the U. S. Constitution will be dedicated. In the .absence of historian, Mrs, F. A. Kicks presented the following program, giving some interesting facts about Memorial Day. Song by Chapter. “Onward Christian Soldiers.” “Highlights of the century ol progress of the reaper and binder, an invention of C. McCormick, oi Virginia,” was given by Mrs. Alice James and 1 Mrs. J. D. Beall. Songs, “Old Oaken Bucket,” and “In the Gloaming," by Chapter. Miss Elizabeth Parker conducted a suizz on Southern History which proved very interesting.
