BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

nolds announce the birth of a daugh
ter on May 4 to be called 1 Jes.io

The Reynolds Woman’s Club held
its last meeting of the year at the
Club House Wednesday afternoon.
This meeting brought to a conclusion
a very successful year under the
leadership of the very able president,
Miss Melissa Ogburn, assisted by the
other officers.
The meeting opened as usual with
the readmg of the collect and the
secretary’s report followed by the
business session. Mrs. Edgar Whatley
of the house committee reported hav
ing had a thorough house cleaning
with the assistance of Mrs. E. E.
Barrow and at a cost of only 85c.
The house committee was authorized
to have interior repairs and painting
done during the summer. The grounds
committee was asked to have the
lawn mower sharpened and the rub
bish hauled away from the grounds.
Mrs. C. L. I’yron reported donations
of $25.00 by the town and $1.00 by
Miss Beulah Barrow for the cemetery
committee. Mrs. R. L. Bell, the
treasurer, was authorized to pay,
with the help of the U. D. C., the in
surance premium which was due in
January.
Miss Winnie Aultman, chairman of
the Library Committee, made a re
quest for $5.00 from the Club. The
L'. D. C. has donated $5.00, and the
town gives $5.00 each month. The
$55.00 for 100 new volumes reported
received at the last meeting has all
been paid but $7.00. The Club voted
to give $5.00.
Mrs. R. E. Aultman gave the re
port for the nominating committee,
The nominee for secretary was Mrs.
Gray Hicks; for treasurer, Mrs. Al
bert Hicks; and for Herald reporter,
Miss Eva B. Griffith. These candi
dates were unanimously elected. Be
cause of failure to get candidates
for president and vice-president, Miss
Ogburn consented to serve until
September by which time the com
mittee hopes to be successful. Mrs.
D. W. Harp will serve another term
as press reporter.
A very delightful musical program
was given under the supervision of
Mrs. Edgar Whatley. There was a
saxaphone solo by Edgar Whatley,
Jr., two piano accordion selections by
Miss Anne Halley, a violin solo by
Oscar Adams of Butler, and Miss
Frances Neisler played the four pi
ano selections she won first place
with at the district school meet and
also at the state meet in Athens.
The hostesses, Mrs. H. K. Sealy,
Mrs. Cliff Windham, and Mrs. F. M.
Oarson, asssited by Mrs. Henry
Hicks served ice cream and delicious
home-made cake.

The forks at Balmoral castle are
always placed with the tines down
ward. This was a rule inaugurated
by the late King Edward after the
