Early This Morning
At Junction City Home
Just as the Herald goes to press
we are informed of the death of Mr.
M. C. Heath of Junction City.
Mr. Heath, 81 years of age died at
his home in Junction City at 1:30
‘’clock this morning. He was a life
long citizen of Talbot county and a
faithful member of the Junction City
Methodist church.
He was preceded to the Great Be-
yond by his wife almost a year ago.
Funeral services will he held at
the Junction City Methodist church
at 10-30 o'clock tomorrow—Friday—
morning.
Mr. Heath is survived by five sons:
Messrs C. !!., 0. L. and W. C. Heath
of Junction City; G. A Heath of At
lanta; and G. M. Heath of Butler.

Miss Carolyn Whipple of Quitman
a former member of the faculty of
Butler High School and daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Whipple, became
the bride of Rev. John Thompson
Adams Jr., of White Springs, Fla.,
at noon Saturday at the Quitman
First Methodist church. Rev. H. H.
Heisler, pastor, performed the cere
mony.
The bride had as her attendants
Miss Irwin Smith of Waycross, maid
of honor, and Misses Eleanor Whip
ple and Ola Blackmon, brides maids.
Miss Smith was love)'' in a spring
gown of teal blue and a turban of
the same material. The bridesmaids
wore identical styles in maize yellow
and their bouquets were colonial
ones of roses, delphinium and iris.
The bride entered on the arm of
her father who gave her in marriage
her step-father, Mr. A. C. Brown ] she wore a traveling costume of

following an illness of several days.
Funeral services held Friday morn
ing at the Unadilla Methodist church
were attended by Mr. and Mrs. W. A
Childs of this city.

Rev. G. N. Rainey, District Super
intendent, has advised by letter to
all officials of the Butler charge, the
date and place set—Friday, April 26
at Union—for the holding of the se
cond quarterly conference for all
churches of the charge, and urgent
ly requests a full attendance of
these officials.
In his letter attention is also
called to the fact that the people of
Shellman are making ample prepa
rations for entertaining the District
Conference on June 13th and looking
forward to the pleasure of having
with them representatives from
every charge in the district.
MAUK JUNIOR HI SCHOOL
CLOSES FRIDAG NIGHT

Junior High school last Friday eve
ning.
Prof. J. W. Lancaster, principal of
the school had charge of the well
planned program.
One of the most interesting fea
tures of the program was an old-
fashioned minstrel. The cast was
composed entirely of local talent.
Those serving as members of the
facult of the Mauk school this year
were: Prof. J. W. Lancaster, super
intendent; Mrs. W. R. Turner, Mrs.
Gordon Bazemore, Mrs. L. R. l’ike
and Miss Ruby Rustin.

Agriculture in Athens spent last
week-end in Butler.
While here Mr. Harvey aided three
young lady members of the iButlei
High School Home Economics class
in landscaping the grounds around
their homes. These young ladies
were: Misses Ann Neisler, Grace
Jarrell and Dorothy Adams.

The groom had as his best man
his brother, Donald Adams of Tam
pa. Ushers were John Whipple of
Quitman and Harris Hafer of Fort

Following the wedding Mr. and
Mrs. Whipple entertained at their
home with a breakfast honoring
members of the \yedding party and
out-of-town guests.
Following the breakfast Mr.
Adams and his bride left on a wed
ding trip to Florida after which they
will reside in White Springs where
1 lie groom is pastor of the Methodist
church.
Mauk Missionary Society
Meets Monday Afternoon
The Woman's Missionary Society
of the Mauk Methodist church met
at the home of Mrs. Gordon Baze
more Monday afternoon. Mrs. J. W.
Lancaster and Mrs. Bazemore were
joint hostesses.
At the business hour $5.00 was col
lected to be applied on the church
funds.
During the recreation hour a num
ber of interesting games were en
joyed by the twenty-five guests
present.
Delicious salad, sandwiches and
cookies were served.

meeting conditions of a grant of $2,-
500,000 to Emory University and
Agnes Scott College in connection
with the estalishment of a university

region. The General Education
Board's grant is conditioned upon
the raising of $5,000,000 by the two
institutions and the present project
known as the Parker Recognition
Fund, is an integral part of the fi
nancing program designed to meet
this condition.
Mr. Gilbert further explained that
while the immediate purpose of the
campaign among the pastors is to
provide endowment for the chair of
Christian Doctrine the money raised
will serve to release other funds now
required for support of that Chair,
and that it is the purpose of the
school to utilize the funds so re
leased’ primarily to provide aid for
needy ministerial students.
Dr. Parker, in whose honor the
professorship is to lie named, is or,e
of the best known figures in South
ern Methodism. Son of the late Bish
op Linus Parker, he has served the
church continuously since young
manhood, his service Being recogniz
ed by his election to a bishopric,
which he declined in orde.' that he
might devote himself 'o the train
ing of young ministers through the
School of Theology.
