gathering of Butler and out-of-town
friends.
The stately church, was beautiful
with its decorations. The chancel
was veiled with traceries of south
ern smilax and , woodwardia fern
was. used in the background. The
chair loft was entwined with smi-
lax; To the side of thd alter stood
white candleabrA in which burned
cathedrial candles. Before the alter
were white satin prayer pillows.
Also flanking the altar were floor
buckets containing pink roses.
As the guests assembled a pro
gram of nuptial music Was rend
ered by Mrs. J. W. 'Edwards I, at
the piano, Mr. Oscar Adams on thd
violin and Mrs. J. W. Edwards II,
soloist. Mr. Adams accompanied
Mrs. J. W. Edwards I in playing
“I Love You Truly," "Ah Sweet

Farmers Urged
To Elect Women
To AAA Committees
The U. S. Department of Agricul
ture has requested that farmers
give every consideration to election
of farm women as well as men to
county and communty committees
to administer the AAA farm pro
gram next year. The department al
so announced that AAA's Articles
of Association are being amended
to permit farmwlv es as well; as
women farming in their own name
to' vote in the committeeman's elec
tions and to hold office. Fred S.
Wallace, AAA Chief stated that the
growing shortageof manpower on
farms is certain to make the damin-
istration of the AAA program dif
ficult in 1943. He said that many '
farmers' wives are competent to
help handle the business of the
AAA' in communities and counties
and that they should be considered
as a reserve labor force for making >
the adjustment and conservation
program function under the strain
of. war.

honor of her son, Mr. Harold Davis
who spent last week with her. Mr.
Davis is in the U. S. Navy and will
soon be transferred from Norfolk,
ya., to the Great Lakes, for special
mechanical training. .
A color note ,of red, white and
blue Was emphasized in the table
decorations. The guests were

wearing a hostess gown of ceil
blue. Miss Fickling was becoming
ly gowned in soldier blue, after
noon dress.
The guests assembled in the

the piano, and Mr. Oscar Adams on
the violin. Popular music was
rendered. A delightful refreshment
course of ice cream and cake was

IN SPECIAL COMMISSIONERS' SESSION

It being the duty of the Commissioners of Roads and Revenues of
;Taylor County, Georgia to levy a sufficient amount of Taxes to meet
the current expenses of the County for the year, 1942, from the general
property of the County and the Digest of the County shows a total
value of property, $1,396,670; less.i exemptions, $627,525; leaving a net
balance :pf $769,145. 'r
. It is therefore ordered by the Commissioners of Roads and Revenues
of Taylor County, that tho total rate,for the year, 1942, be and the same
Is assessed at 0.011 (eleven) mills or one tenth of one per centum on all
property In said County subject to taxation under the laws of the
Stae of Georgia. The same to be apportioned as follows:
the Fulton National Bank, Atlanta, Ga., due Jan. 1,
1. To pay sheriffs, jailors, or other officers fees that
may be a legal charge against the County 2 Mills
2. To Pay Coroners all fees that may be due them by

It is further ordered that the Tax Commissioner collect the above
taxes for the various purposes after allowing exemptions as pro
vided by law and pay them over to the proper authority.'
