time in history the Albany Herald
has;a woman as managing editor.
Mrs. Louise Whiting, a member
of the Herald staff as reporter, so
ciety editor and city editor for a
number of years, has been named
managing editor. She succeeds W.
M. Pryse, who will devote his time
to editorial columns, news and fea
ture contributions.
The Herald also announced ap
pointment of James Robinson as
city editor. He will continue his
Bports column, “So What."
With three former staff members
now in the armed service, the news
paper added two newcomers to the
reportorial staff—Janelle Kenney, of
Athens and J. H. Herring, of Tiftpit.
Dalton Papers Have New Editor
Daltoin, Ga., Oct. 5—Charles H.
Emmons has become new- editor of
the Dalton News and Citizen. He
comes to Dalton from Atlanta where
lie has lived four years. Previously
he was editor of his own paper in
Clayton, New Mcx.co, and before
that, edited several papers in his
native state of Kansas.
For a number of years he taught
