is being hold on a robbery charge
in Talbotton.
| Webb’s bruised and tire-marked
body was found Saturday near Tal
botton.
Parker had been taken into cus
tody by Columbus police Friday
night after a hit and run accident.
Police charged the 37-year-old
white man with leaving the scene
of an accident and driving under
the influence of intoxicants.
A coroner’s jury termed the death
as “murder.”

enforcement officers of the Georgia
State Alcohol and Control Unit have
been taken otf their jobs to stump
for the passage of Amendment No.
1 in the general election Tuesday,
reliable sources told the Maron
Telegraph last night. ,
Amendment No. 1 is the Tal-
madge-sponsored proposal which
seeks to have the county-unit sys
tem written into the state constitu- '
ion.
Informed officials in Macon said'
the men reported for work yester
day morning and then left for their
homes throughout the state. Every
man had instructions to “go to his
home until after the election and
work for the passage of Amendment
No. 1.,” they said.
