We are convinced that next to
sin, fear is perhaps the greatest
enemy of the human spirit. Every
where people are afraid, and hard
ly a person is without fear of some
kind. Some fears are simple and
seemingly harmless, but others are
destructive.

i We were delighted to note this
item last week in the daily news
papers of the state: “Five regis

tween three and four months old.
have been presented to five young
Monroe County dairymen as the
b eginning of a calf chain to be
sponsored by the Forsyth Lions

I' We are delighted to learn that
| Dr. M. D. Collins has qualified with
| the State Democratic Executive
| Committee as a candidate for re-

II We concur most heartily with
| Bro Belmont Dennis, Editor of the

1 We were deeply interested
in this item appearing in an
| change last week: Fond hopes ot
• parents are wrapped up in their
children as they go off to school

|| a noted lawyer is in the making.
Or a future President of the Unit-

^ Mother’s Day is only a short
time away. If you haven’t a gift
for her don’t let it worry you. Just
do something nice for her. Maybe
j you can finish up some job that
she has been wanting you to do or
keep your eyes open for any little
thing you can do to make her work
| easier. Just find a way to show her
how much you love her. That will
make her happier than the most
expensive gift you could buy.

Liberalization of eligibility of
propeity which can be claimed for
homestead exemption, under the
Cieorgia tax laws was explained
this week by Attorney-Generad Eu
gene Cook in an official opinion
rendered the state Department of
Revenue. The Attorney-General cit
ed laws passed during the 1952 ses
sion of the General Assembly as
authority for his new decision
which, as he stated, “supersedes all i
others rendered by me.” “Under the!
amendment,” Cook stated, “any
property which is owned and occu
pied by a person as a home can
be claimed as a homestead, and is
eligible for an exemption from
taxes up to $2,000 as is provided in
the Act.”
